Most people don’t see how much work is really involved in this cosplay shit. I didn’t know it, i didnt see it until I was actually buried in it. You really have to BE in it to understand what its like. They always tell you, "dont take it seriously", I think that’s ignorant. Take it seriously. You’re spending hours, weeks, months, hundreds and even thousands of dollars bringing a costume to life, never mind hotels and con admission. You better take that shit seriously. But that’s you. Take what YOU do seriously. Be dedicated to it. Love what your doing. Ignore what others say or think. They don’t matter. Taking a hobby seriously or even passionately, stil means you are still having fun. That in fact is the most important part. Having fun. Although some people tend to forget that. It’s very easy to let that lime light and camera flashes get to you. Taking it seriously doesn’t mean allowing yourself to be consumed by it, thats when you start to let the haters run you, and you lose sight of everything else. Not the difference, serious and consumed. It certainly doesn’t make you an elitist either.. that’s a whole different thing; but rather laugh at your mistakes, help those who need it, be dedicated in everything you do. You want to make a great costume, get out there and do it. Be dedicated, take it seriously. But have fun with it.
