It was unusual for Conrad to be in such a situation.
There was most certainly crying coming from the other room.
He wasn’t sure how to approach the situation. Certainly he needed to go check on whoever was in such a state, right? But what if they didn’t want company, or loathed to be seen in such a state? And considering Anthiese was the only person he knew well enough to speak heart to heart with, it most definitely wouldn’t be someone he was close with. If they were from Alm’s Deliverance before the forced merged, it was likely to be someone whose name he didn’t even recall.
Still, he couldn’t very well ignore someone in distress. He had to check on them, even if they just yelled for him to leave. It was just the decent thing to do.
With careful steps, he approached the door before him, giving a gentle knock.
“It’s me. Um, Conrad,” he spoke gently, “I know you don’t know me well, but I’m here. If you need someone.”
Silque did not think anyone would hear her. She did not wish to worry anyone or take up their time. It was a private matter that had her with tears in her eyes, although not as private as it might be for others. Silque was not the type to cry easily, although she was certainly not cold-hearted. The opposite in fact. She always thought she cried a reasonable amount, but it was hard to know for sure. Everyone was different.
She sniffled, surprised by the gentle knock. Someone had heard her crying. She did not recognize the voice as someone she knew. There were people that she did not know yet, who she had brief encounters with or saw in passing. That they’d stop to check on her was kind.
“Come on in,” she called out to the person on the other side of the door. Perhaps talking about it would help. Conrad. That name was more familiar than the voice. She had not spoken to him, but from what she knew she did not mind speaking with him.
