C and D in the alphabet superset challenge! corvus and draco!
Young Stars Part 3
Older still did the constellations grow, as their worlds neared completion. They had just gotten back from visiting the Sun, whose council had approved their planets for placement within the galaxy. They were ecstatic.
Through the space they danced in joy, both individually and with each other. The first thing they did upon finishing their dance was to rush to their friend, the Constellation Ursa.
“Ursa, Ursa!” Cried out Scorpio, eagerly waking her friend from his nap among the comets. “They approved our stories!”
The little star-panda stretched his arms, shaking himself off and floating before the pair. He was smaller than they, though just as old. He smiled tiredly, an old wisdom in his eyes despite his youthful frame. “I’m glad!” He exclaimed with a yawn.
Draco smushed himself up against Scorpio, eyes glittering. “Ursa, have you seen our story drafts yet? You need to see them!!”
The little bear grinned at them. “Not the most recent ones, no. I’d love to see.”
And so the pair did, displaying their planets proudly and rattling off all the plans they had. Scorpio even lowered her barrier so the panda could see.
He gave them a grin. “What are you calling them?”
Draco hugged his world tight. “Mythcre!” He exclaimed.
Scorpio put her barrier back up and balanced the planet on her stinger. “Nyla.” She stated proudly.
Ursa nodded approvingly. “You two are going to create such wonderful stories, I just know it.”
They beamed at him.
“But...I feel like something’s missing from both of them.”
Scorpio’s eyes widened. “Like what? I’m pretty proud of how mine is right now, what could be missing?”
“Cooperation on a more major scale.” He explained. “I mean, you gave her some birds, and she gave you a cool moon, but aside from that? It seems like you guys are going to some silly lengths to avoid touching each other’s worlds.”
“W-well...” Draco laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head.
The scorpion pursed her lips. “Ursa, my world has had a really long development period and I’d hate for something to derail my plans now.” She informed him, crossing her pincers stubbornly.
Draco pouted at her. “Hey, what’s that supposed to mean? You think I’d mess up your world?”
Scorpio was taken aback by her friend’s dejected tone. “H-hey, I don’t mean it to be mean! I think you’re really imaginative and free-spirited! B-but, all of the rules you make for your stories have, like, a million exceptions. It’s unstructured.”
The dragon turned up his nose. “Well none of your rules do! It’d boring if I tried to do it that way!”
Ursa stopped them before an argument could arise. “This is what I mean. You’re both limiting yourselves by rejecting the others’ way entirely. You need to find a way to incorporate each other’s ideologies.”
“B-but I like my stuff the way it is.” Mumbled Draco, pouting.
“Me too...” Scorpio added.
The bear put a paw to his chin. “Ok, how about this. Both of you look into each others worlds, and find one thing you’d change. Draco, find a rule of Scorpio’s you want to give an exception, and Scorpio, find a rule of Draco’s that you want to make exception-less. Then talk with each other about it and see if the terms are ones you can both agree to. Does that sound good to both of you?
The pair of constellations looked at one another and, with apprehension in their eyes, nodded to each other.
Ursa beamed proudly.
Draco snickered at his friend’s pride. “When’d you get so smart, Ursa?”
He chuckled. “Sitting alone in space for a long time gives you plenty to think about.”

Young Stars Part 2
As their stories grew, so did the constellations that wrote them. Their planets were nearing the stage at which they were concrete enough to be inhabitable.
Scorpio, carving out a mountain range with her pincers, stopped and looked around at the cosmic debris that had begun to surrounded them as they created. She frowned. “Is this place...a good place to put our planets, Draco?” She inquired.
Draco cocked his head to the side at the question, poking his claw into his own planet and making a volcano sprout up. “Why wouldn’t it be?”
“I mean, what if some of these rocks hit my planet before they’re developed enough to protect themselves?” She replied, removing her appendage from the surface. “That would be such a terrible way for the story to end, you know?”
Draco shrugged, dragging another talon through his planet and making a massive ravine. “Well, that’s not something you can control. You’ll just have to watch and let new kingdoms sprout up in the wake.” He informed her matter-of-factly.
Scorpio pouted, grumbling to herself. She began to craft something around her planet.
“What are you doing now?” The dragon inquired, pausing his crafting to hold his planet against his stomach.
“Making a little shield for them~” She replied cheerfully, polishing out a shimmering barrier of black, deep blue, and purple. “This way, if a big asteroid or something tries to end them prematurely, this thing will stop it!”
Draco frowned. “But won’t it be dark in there?”
Scorpio opened her mouth to dispute it, but let it hang open when she realized he was right. She closed it, pursing her lips. “Uh...”
“Scorpio...you know you need night and day, right?”
“I-I know! But, but...”
“Scorpio!”
She puffed out her cheeks, embarrassed. “Well, what would you do, then?”
Draco’s eyes glittered with enthusiasm. “Gimme a sec, I got this!!”
The solution the dragon came to was one Scorpio found quite fascinating. A pair of magical birds, flying around the planet inside its protective shell. One had the power to turn light to darkness, and the other did the opposite. If they flew around with even spacing from one another, they would naturally create a cycle of night and day.
The scorpion was delighted by the bird idea, in all facets except one.
“What do you mean the daytime bird has black feathers?!” She spluttered, exasperated. “Wouldn’t it make more sense for the night bird to be black?”
“Nooo you don’t get it!” Draco explained, grinning. “The day bird makes light by absorbing darkness, so then its feathers turn black!”
Scorpio groaned. “You’ll confuse my characters, Draco!”
He rolled his eyes. “I’m sure they’re clever enough to figure it out. You’re the one who’s putting them there, after all!”
She snorted in amusement. “You nerd. I think I’m gonna have to make some mechanics on your world if you’re doing it for me, heh.”
“Heck yeah!”

Young Stars Part 1
Long, long ago, when Imipomagin was young, the only thing that resided within it were clusters of young stars. There were many, but two in particular stood out. One was in the shape of a dragon; the constellation, Draco. The other was in the shape of a scorpion; the constellation, Scorpio.
The pair of them were close, being born so close in the vast expanse of space. They grew slowly, each individual star in their makeup glittering brighter and bigger one day at a time.
The stars knew they had stories to tell, so they began brainstorming ideas. They wanted their stories to be worth hearing, of course.
“My story will be about kingdoms!” Scorpio exclaimed, holding up a small planet for the other to see. “The relationships they have with each other, and wars too! All the important characters will be princes and princesses!”
The dragon wagged his tail. “Where’re the kingdoms go? What’s the planet look like?” He asked, beaming excitedly.
Scorpio hummed, looking down at the planet in her claws. “Hmm, I think it’s one big continent, with lots and lots of water around it!”
“Are there kingdoms in the water too?” Draco asked, tilting his head to the side.
Scorpio paused, thinking hard about it for a few moments. Then, her face broke out in a grin. “That’d be super cool, Draco! Like, everyone would think all the important kingdoms are on land where everyone can see them, but secretly the most powerful ones are hidden in the ocean! That’s really clever, thanks Draco!”
He giggled in response. “No problem, I’m full of good ideas~” The dragon replied, waving his paw with flair.
As Scorpio began arranging landmasses on her young planet, she smiled at her friend. “What’s your story about, Draco?”
Draco’s tail wagged excitedly, and he held his planet high. He was beaming with pride. “Everything!!”
The scorpion paused, looking up at him. “What?”
The dragon’s eyes were gleaming. “There’s gonna be Kingdoms like yours, but not just that! There’s packs of wolves in the woods, and birds in other woods, and lots of rivers full of river things!! And sea monsters! And dragons, and ruins with treasure, and cities, and-”
“Ok, ok!” Scorpio giggled, delighted by her friend’s enthusiasm. “Who are your important characters, then? If there’s all that stuff your story’s gonna be about, you’re gonna need a lot of them.” She pointed out.
Draco hugged his planet close to his chest. “All of them! All of them are important!”
The scorpion’s eyes widened. “Wait, what? All of them can’t be important, Draco! That’d be silly.”
“Then I wanna be silly!” Draco replied, grinning. “From the most powerful king, to the littlest orphan, to the newborn wolf in the wild, I want all of them to play a part in my story.” He said, looking down at the planet in his arms with love in his starry eyes.
Scorpio frowned a little. “But, wouldn’t that make your story, like, super duper long?”
“Yep!”
“Doesn’t it have to end at some point?”
“Maybe!”
“...you mean you haven’t thought of an ending yet?”
“Nope!”
The scorpion was taken aback. “That’s so...unstructured! Anything could happen, and you wouldn’t have a way to stop it!”
Draco only grinned wider.
“Aren’t you scared for them?” She inquired, frowning with worry.
“Why would I be? I want them to make their own destiny, that’s what makes telling a story fun!”
Scorpio pouted at him. “You know, you’ll never get to the end of a story that never ends.”
He beamed. “I know! That’s the best part!”
