Acivico's Barrow House opening ceremony ribbon cutting by resident Fergus Hennessey (who has have lived at Barrow House for an incredible 37 years!) with contractor Lovell and representatives from the Birmingham City Council Housing team.
Barrow House is the first high rise refurbishment scheme carried out under the CWM (Construction West Midlands) Framework which is managed by Acivico.
The original brief from the client was to provide a 30 year life to the block by carrying out structural repairs and external refurbishment of the block. This was expanded to include extensive internal refurbishment to all flats and communal areas. All work to be carried out by a single contractor.
The work was carried out with tenants remaining in their flats, which was particularly difficult due to this being an elderly persons block.
Residents of the block now live in warmer, weathertight, environment with new kitchens, new central heating systems, new windows, new electrical wiring and brighter communal areas.
Acivico together with Lovell Construction and our colleagues from Birmingham City Council Housing have all worked closely as a team to ensure that the project was delivered with minimum disruption to the residents.
