Are you writing a Newmann fanfic? (I saw the whole Sharknado thing and I was kinda confused)

I am currently writing the "You're Hotter Than a Bunsen Burner Set to Full Power" on ao3, I just updated actually! But yeah I am working on the fic it wasn't a serious part, just, as a budding science lover and huge biology fan I get uPSET WHEN THINGS DIE.

Here you go! One nice dose of angst-to-fluff. Warning for anxiety.

“Fuck!”

“Hermann,” Newton said, voice strained. “If you are about to lecture me right now, I swear-”

“I was about to do no such thing,” Hermann said guiltily – for he’d certainly thought about it. But he pushed forward and said, “Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?”

Newton shook his head, his eyes still closed. “No, I just dropped it, I’m…I’m fine.”

“And did that vial contain anything dangerous?”

“Jesus, I told you, Hermann, it’s fine. I’ll clean it up later, if you could stop bitching and just give me one-”

“Newton,” Hermann said, his mind made up as he turned off his holo-projector. “Come here. Let’s get you to the couch.”

Newton finally cracked an eye open just enough to shoot Hermann a confused glance. “What are you talking about, dude?”

“I’m talking about the fact that you haven’t had such much as ten hours of sleep in the past four days,” Hermann said. “I know you are under the impression that you’re doing the PPDC a service by neglecting yourself for your work, but you are, as usual, mistaken. So, if that vial is not something that immediately needs to be disposed of, then I insist that you sit on the couch and rest, for pity’s sake.”

Newton blinked long and hard as he tried to process Hermann’s words, and that, more than even the horrifying bags under the other man’s eyes, clued Hermann in to just how sleep deprived Newton was. Normally Newton was refuting or arguing Hermann’s comments before they’d even been entirely voiced – this hesitation set Hermann’s mouth in a deep frown.

“I just can’t think,” Newton said, finally dragging himself over to the couch and fairly collapsing into it. “I can’t think because I can’t sleep, but I can’t sleep because my chest feels so heavy that it’s keeping me awake, and I feel like if I could rest it wouldn’t feel like that, but I just can’t, I can’t and-”

By now Newton’s breathing was shallow enough that Hermann felt the need to join him on the couch. Hermann’s heart seized as he saw Newton’s hands clench and shake around the couch’s fabric, as if in a desperate attempt to ground himself.

“Would it help if I were to touch you?” Hermann asked.

Newton’s eyes were clenched tight again, but he managed a short nod.

Hermann slowly set a hand on Newton’s arm and grimaced at his own awkwardness – this was hardly a comforting touch and Newton was still tense under his hand. He needs you, Hermann thought firmly. Be better at this.

Slowly, so slowly, Hermann brought his hand up to rest at Newton’s hair, recalling how the other man prodded and pulled at it when he was close to panicking. Newton practically melted into the touch, his head sinking down to rest on Hermann’s chest.

“That’s good,” Newton murmured.

Hermann tried not to flush at Newton’s breath ghosting across his collarbone – now was really not an appropriate time to reaffirm the fact that he was attracted to his lab partner – and continued petting Newton’s hair. It was…soft. Not as soft as Hermann would have thought – probably all of the blasted product he uses – and a bit greasy, but still nice. The faint, sweet smell of Newton’s hair product was right next to Hermann’s nose and it was all he could do not to inhale it.

Hermann could not help but relax into his motions just as much as Newton had. It was…soothing, to touch another person in this way. The constant, repetitive motion was enough to make Hermann’s eyes droop close, and he recalled that, while he certainly wasn’t as sleep deprived as Newton, it’d certainly been a few days since he’d gotten his fair share of rest.

“You can’t fall asleep,” Newton mumbled. “Then I’ll fall asleep.”

“I’m not going to fall asleep,” Hermann yawned. “But I’m not – move you’re elbow, it’s poking me — leaving you here until you’re better. I care far too much for you to do so.”

As Newton nuzzled into his chest and snuggled closer, Hermann reflected that perhaps he was falling asleep – he certainly wouldn’t have shared that much about his affections had he been fully conscious. But Newton’s hair was still soft against his palm and his lips were just barely pressed to Hermann’s skin, so he could not bring himself to care.

“I like you too,” Newton said, his voice barely more than a murmur now. “Thank you for this.”

“Of course, dear Newton,” Hermann murmured back, letting his eyes slip fully close. “Of course.”

One final yawn and a whispered: “Goodnight, Hermann.”

Hermann smiled, letting himself breathe in the flowery scent of a certain biologist’s hair product before yawning: “Goodnight, Newton.”

XD i should be practicing violin i think, or piano, because i have a lesson for the former on friday and a recital for the latter on saturday. but instead im here procrastinating

oooh this is a hard one. can they be fictional? probably not...i guess i really want to meet thomas jefferson because he's *kind of my history crush but shhhh*

5. What do you think people value the most about you?

mmmmmm i think generally people like to come to me for help with school subjects :P but in all honesty...i think i give good advice? maybe that's just me, because i wouldn't be giving advice out if i didn't think it was good XP

this is like asking you to pick your favorite child. i really like classical music, but im kind of into pop too...i guess right now it's a tie between lorde and taylor swift. don't judge.

7. What is your ideal place to live?

hm, either princeton or cambridge. it's not because im an asian high school geek and i think staying close to good colleges will get me into them or something but rather because i really like the new england atmosphere as well as the whole academia feel. which i suppose means i am indeed an asian high school geek. 

8. Favorite word?

currently, i think it's perspicacious. like the loris (virtual high five if you get that reference)

9. what is one thing you might change about yourself?

i can't keep my emotions calm under pressure and stuff. i'd like to change that.

10. if you ran for president, what would your main campaign be?

vote for michelle! she probably won't get the country burned down! B)

11. do you have a catchphrase/word you’ve fallen into the habit of saying?

i think right now, i keep saying "your face" as a comeback to everything and my friends are starting to get annoyed...

QUESTIONS

1. Have you seen Ya Boy Bill Nye's twitter? (if not seriously look it up)

Yes I have and holy shit what do I even say about it.

2. Best Harry Potter character?

Luna. Luna no doubt. My second favorite is Draco but that's a personal thing

3. Homestuck?

The longer I'm on tumblr the more i understand what it is. Now that doesn't mean I understand it, at all, and I don't claim to. I tried reading it once but I got lost so I stopped :/

4. Favorite villain?

That's hard... It's probably a tie between Jim Moriarty and Crowley. Pretty much anyone but Umbridge, the little shit.

5. Favorite fictional monster?

Damn this is hard. Weeping angels probably. I like vamps too...

6. Bilbo Baggins or Frodo

Well I don't really know as much as I would like to know about the Tolkien fandom, but I guess I would have to say bilbo.

7. Name your favorite quote that's from a book

fuck..... I guess my favorite quote has always been "You're just as sane as I am" because I felt it was an accurate representation of my level of sanity. I also really like "Come, you spirits..." but that's from a play technically.

8. Vinyl or digital

I actually have a pretty large vinyl collection thanks to my dad but I listen to digital more often because it's more convenient. I definitely LOVE listening to vinyl though.

9. Did you ever play Pokemon? (if so, who's your favorite?)

I did play Pokemon as a kid and as I grow older I am finding myself more in love with it and nostalgic for it (although I've fallen out of touch with it) which is nice because idk I just really love it a lot. I'm gonna assume this meant favorite pokemon and in that case.... damn I don't know there are so many more pokemon in the newer generations since I've played it that would probably be my favorite but when I was younger my favorite was Blaziken.

10. Do you enjoy calendars?

I never use my calendar I'm so bad at it but i don't like, dislike it or anything. It's a decent calendar. I don't calenhate.

11. Name one OTP, one NOTP, and one BROTP

Ok, well my biggest OTP is probably Destiel, right now at least. (my first OTP was Drarry). My biggest NOTP is Harmony. And my biggest BROTP is Dean/Charlie I don't think it has like a name or anything.
