An insightfull comment about pro life views...
"I, along with many prolifers, are pro-women as well. The end to abortion isnt only about ending killing babies, but also protecting women from a lifetime of regret, depression, and even physical problems. I am pro-life and pro-women."
Thought that my thought needed a bit more explanation.
I've seen a lot of posts talking about how abortion should be illegal because it is viewed as wrong by some, is against some peoples religion, things like that. A few posts said that abortion emotionally scars women. Another says that it can physically harm women.
The thing is....
1. Just because you view something as wrong, doesn't mean everyone else does. I think that druggies should have their tubes tied and nuts taken off so that they can't have children and fuck up those kids lives, but you can't make the government step in and do that. That's against reproductive rights, even though they're drug addicts.
2. If Jesus and god said something, good fine, all is well, it is your religion, follow it as you please, I won't stop you. But don't force someone else to follow it and live by it. That is against their right to religion, no matter how strongly you feel. You can obey your religion, let other people follow their religion and make their own decisions.
3. The posts about women living in depression because of abortion and being mentally and emotionally scared from it. I know people who have had abortions, and they're not scarred to death. They might feel some regret for what may have been, but they are strong women, they do not abuse themselves for that, they move on. I can believe that some women become depressed because of the choice they make, even though I haven't heard of it first hand. But that was solely their decision and choice, and if it ended up being their mistake, that is what we have family and friends for, to bring us back up. That is why we are capable of learning cause and effect relationships. Learn from what happened, don't make yourself worse that you feel, you always have a second chance.
But just because you regret your experience, does not mean other women do. You can;t force other women to live they way you want them to according to your experience, because they have their on experiences and beliefs for just causes.
4. Abortion can harm women, but that is why you should heed being a whore who doesn't use protection and has abortions like chewing gum. That is why we made abortion legal so that illegal abortions do not happen, back alley abortions. Done by untrained people who have no idea what they are doing and cause infection or death to the woman.
and the last thought on this is, efforts to stop abortions have led to efforts to stop reproductive health care, entirely. Even contraception, so people can avoid abortion, is being attacked.
So that's my thought more fully explained.
