Leaf woke up upset 20 minutes ago. I went in, picked him up, cuddled him, and he passed right back out.

Now he's asleep on my chest and I wanna stay here cuz I don't get this chance very much anymore 🥹 But also...sleeping upright on the couch will NOT be good for my neck, or back, or circulation 🫠

As much as it doesn't fit well with current Western childrearing norms, infants refusing to sleep when not in direct physical contact with an adult seems likely to have been selected for, considering that even modern first world infants have been killed by predators when they tolerated sleeping alone.

Contact Naps

My baby doesn’t want to be put down on his bassinet. We’re doing a lot of contact napping lately. Weird enough, he sleeps long on the bassinet when his dad puts him down for the night. It’s when my shift starts that he starts hating the bassinet. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. 😅 Anyway, I find contact napping expensive! When the baby is asleep, Mama keeps doom scrolling or online shopping. I bet…

After having my daughter, because I was sick and in and out of the hospital plus failed to breastfeed, I had a hard time connecting with her. It took me allowing her to contact nap on me to finally feel connected to her. It was the contact naps that helped me bond with my baby.
