So, in your VERY good fic, Jeremie's trans and Odd is bi - any other LGBT+ headcanons you have for the Lyoko gang?
Aaaah thank you !! i’m a big fan of my fic too so i’m glad you like it!
oh boy, Sycamore, youve unleashed the beast with this one, hahaha.
my trans jeremie headcanon is pretty specific, I think he came out really young (like, as soon as he could articulate “gender” he was like “boy” (and probably used lots of big words to explain it to his poor clueless parents)). his family is super supportive and like, changed his name/wardrobe/etc right away!
he wasn’t able to go on hormone blockers for a couple years into puberty, hence needing top surgery in his 20s, but he was pretty androgynous/masculine to begin with so it wasn’t really a problem. (He also gets special permissions from Kadic for a single room, designated shower hours, etc.)
When it comes to sexuality he’s pretty firmly in the “straight” category. (He gets kinda defensive about it, but he means well.)
Odd definitely went on a journey sexuality-wise. He was obviously very into girls from a young age, but unrecognized by him at the time he had feelings for lots of boys and nonbinary people, too. I think he figured it out really (that his Deep Admiration for guys was really just attraction) when he was a teenager, and I think beyond an initial freakout/overcompensation to affirm his attraction to women, he accepted it pretty quickly.
He wasn’t ready to really come out until a couple years later (when he matured a bit, haha, and really got comfortable with being attracted to guys and also felt ready to deal w any potential backlash). He came out to his friends at 17/18, and then started dating guys publicly at 20.
In his 20s he’s pretty upfront about it (and makes lots of puns!), and like, he’s pretty gender non-conforming, so people assume, and he’s okay with that. Like... if he likes you, he likes you.
Other headcanons I’m not like... set on but do enjoy:
Yumi is also bi! She always had crushes on people of different genders and didn’t know their was a word for it til she was older. She didn’t go through a whole self-acceptance process like Odd did, she didn’t need to. Ulrich was the first person she came out to, followed closely by Hiroki.
Ulrich is either like, like... ambiguously bi, and would consider dating a guy if the opportunity arose (but also only has ever had eyes for Yumi) OR he’s straight but deeply supportive of his bi wife girlfriend.
A few others I have that I wanna explore (not in my fic verse, but maybe in other projects) are bi Aelita, femme lesbian Aelita, lesbian Sissi, nonbinary Odd, trans man Odd, gay Odd (listen... Odd reads very gay (blanket term) to me.), aro-spectrum Ulrich... Oh, nonbinary (GQ or genderfluid) William, too.
Basically, there’s a lot of ways I like to read them!
