Life is peaceful right now. (Also, I've reached one month of wearing contacts for the first time! โบ๏ธ) Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful day ๐
I performed solo violin with viral artists Harry Mack (rapper, 2.7M on IG) and Guitaro 5000 (guitarist & singer, 200K on IG) recently for a livestream. Together, we created songs on the spot for hours, inspired by stories from the crowd surrounding us in Washington Square Park. Some people are really skeptical of Internet stars, but I have a *ton* of respect for these guys because of how they've connected with their audiences - with their craft and a genuine desire to inspire, delight, and encourage everyday people. โญ๏ธ Here's to unconventional art, created by artists who decidedly live outside the box. ๐ป
Sometimes you're feeling glum โ๏ธ & God sends a reminder why He gave you those talents - at the perfect time, in the perfect way. ๐๐ผ

Join us for miniMIXT, our new secret salon series starting 9/29. Location revealed upon ticket purchase (here's the website) ๐ Featured artist, Adrianna, will sing a set of original songs. Come celebrate the end of Summer and the beginning of something beautiful. ๐ โข โข โข Designed for intimacy, intention, and imagination, miniMIXT (aka Mmmm mmmmm) pays homage to the hush-hush cabaret culture of the 20th century, and other underground artist resistance movements of the past. You never know what youโll find behind the curtain.
If you canโt make it and would still like to support, you can make a fully tax-deductible donation here, which goes directly to our Fall fundraising campaign - TWC was just granted a 501(c)3 status! ๐

Just performed my last show of 2024! ๐๐ฅ๐พ Feeling goofy, accomplished, and a bit like Iโve been in a blender: in a single week, I sightread & ornamented Baroque music at A=415, performed solo violin rep at A=432, transposed music up a 3rd at sight (French clef ๐ฎโ๐จ) - and earlier today, met with an international casting director whoโs worked on films we all know and love. ๐ Thank you Jesus for doughnuts and Netflix and providing and preventing my heart from becoming bitter at ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ people. Prepping for both a solo violin performance and a film shoot is fun - and often contrary. You need to eat to have enough energy reserves to practice well, and the process requires self-discipline to know when to ease up or stop pushing. On the other hand, you have to dial in your diet - for short notice things, this usually means a bunch of cutting, which is challenging with all the delicious holiday sweets โน๏ธ - *and* working out. For workouts to be effective, you need to challenge your muscles to failureโฆ but you still need limber and resilient small muscles for practicing!ย ๐ณ
I know itโs a privilege to tussle with these challenges, but itโs still really disheartening to deal with jealous people (especially women and BIMPOC women? who should maybe support and, ahem, *hire* fellow women?) - people who also donโt put in the same kind of work, or even act on their own creative impulses. My audacity to share my talent, and perhaps the physical vehicle for that talent, deeply irritates some people. Maybe one day, theyโll stop being ridiculous and exclusionary, and - while weโre dreaming big, lol - theyโll just respect the work and blessing required to manifest a big life vision. โข There is room for our individual cycles of success to exist simultaneously.
โข Jealousy is mismanaged exposure. If you feel jealous of someone, update it to inspiration - and put the work in.
โข Recommend and hire women. Recommend and hire BIMPOC women! Even if youโre a little jealous of them! A little bit of healthy competition in the room makes better art, and perhaps new friends as well.ย ๐ ________ ๐ท: Adrian Buckmaster Photographer
Just wanted to say I'm generally not as present here as on other platforms - I've been having trouble uploading videos and photos to this site! Bit of a bummer. I'm on Instagram as @adriannamateo (as well as most other social media). I'll periodically update on here but it'll be closer to a haphazard highlights reel than a complete picture of current activities. Hope your holidays are going well! ๐
