   He’s in the middle of talking to one of the techs from R&D when his watch beeps a few times. It’s a subtle alarm; the relatively quite sound closer to a gentle reminder rather than something indicating immediate attention is required. It is, however, a call from the Avengers meant for Iron Man. So after a quickly excusing himself, the billionaire disappears into his office, intent on changing into the Avenger’s metal armor. 

   There’s a lot of measures the genius takes in order to conceal the identity of his ‘bodyguard’. Most of which involve coincidence, locked doors, and good acting. Unfortunately, locking his office door doesn’t really help when there’s someone already inside waiting for him. 

   Tony doesn’t notice Beck until it’s too late. A bookcase is already sliding aside to reveal an Iron Man suit hidden away as he answers his watch. “I hear you, Cap. I’ll---” seeing the man standing on the other side of room, he balks, “--- be a minute. Hold on.”

         PROFESSOR X. charles felt at the time that it conveyed more authority than was truthful. but he supposes he’s grown into the position. or perhaps time has just worn away his disfavor. in any case, he must admit that mysterio carries a bit more gravitas.

With his mask pulled up just enough to not cover his mouth, Peter sat on a high rise, looking over the city. He looked over the hot dog in his hands, filled with all kinds of toppings. Some fell out as he took a bite, plopping onto the city below.

          Fingertips trail over the crisp albeit dog-eared page, as if the man’s skin could somehow absorb the ink to tangibly take in years of experience and ensuing consequences - Quentin recognises his own handwriting but the words feel so inherently incongruous to him, an underlying tone of self-pity that pervasively reminds the developer of a particular dark period of his life. A time where he was weak,  a shadow of himself with the innate desire to sate the craving of acceptance  from his peers ( or rather, one in particular ).

                    Jaw clenched, the brunet’s grip abruptly tightens to grasp at the edges of the journal, a moment of hesitance ensuing as the engineer tussles with the thought of ripping the bound sheets into a million pieces. Tense digits splay once more, smoothing out the newly created creases, watchful eyes opting to continue reading in his dismay. It didn’t matter that each sentence made him nauseated, an abundant sense of malaise broiling at the pit of his stomach— each wave reminded Beck that he was no longer that  person. He made his own rules now and didn’t have to answer to anyone else.
