Plus “if you do x, you are asking for y” logic sounds a lot like victim-blaming too which is like.... totally an abuse tactic to shut down the conversation.

Yes. I don’t think everyone who uses this “logic” means to promote abuse, but this is often used as an abuse tactic. As someone who has been blamed for abuse that has actually happened to me, it’s very jarring to see people say things like this. It’s something people should remind themselves not to do.

If the criticism is upsetting you to the point making you cry, get rid of it. Or figure out why that particular brand of criticism is upsetting to you. Then you can weed through and find criticism (if you still want to be exposed to it) that doesnt upset you, if that makes sense?

All kinds of criticism make me cry or want to cry immediately even when deserved because i am a weak and overly sensitive person XD

I hear "i hate the yoi fandom" and i feel targeted, even if the person means "i hate these members of the yaoi fandom specifically".
