Revisiting the first video essay I ever made born from a past hyperfixation: The Third Finger Offered to a King (2023)
The full video is on Youtube: cinemateacally
In it, I talked about the drama, my thoughts on it, and how much I adored Yamada Ryosuke. That admiration spiraled into multiple trips to Japan, watching two films there, and collecting a lot of merch. I was completely charmed.
Coming back to this video now, at a time when I want to create more but often feel stuck or doubtful, reminds me why I started in the first place. This was never meant to be a road to content creation of sorts. Like, even now, it’s still the hobby I’m most fond of. It’s simply a space to express myself and share the things I love, the stories that I fixate on, the ones that, in their own way, kept me going. And maybe, along the way, find people who feel the same or want to have a good conversation about them.
So hi, I’m Laline, and this is cinemateacally. A space where I share my thoughts, obsessions, and little adventures.
Just a quick disclaimer: I’m a normal person with a day job and real-life responsibilities. I just really love writing and talking about the things that make me happy. I write my own scripts, edit my videos, and do my own voiceovers. I’m also a tea enthusiast who can’t function without a warm cup nearby.
If you like what you see, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let's have a good conversation, please.
