Where the fuck does it say we don’t know what a fortnight is. It’s just super uncommon to say, so some people probably never really hear of it.

*I* didn’t say none of you know what it means, either.  But knowing what a word means isn’t always the same thing as “having” a word, and the thing is, even just you saying “it’s uncommon” is enough to make my brain do somersaults trying to process that.  That’s how basic a word it is here.

And I’m not trying to insult or attack you when I do flip out about stuff like this, it’s just that this is how my brain automatically reacts.  I can’t really stop it.

I should have went to sleep hours ago so I'm not totally coherent right now.

It just seems like a word that's fallen out of fashion to me, where people around here are more likely to hear it in a historical context than everyday usage. Though maybe it could depend on where you live around here too, I'm not going to call myself an expert on this.
