I'm an illustrator from Finland (sometimes I make picture books for children), and in 2019 I decided that it was time to fill a major gap in my knowledge on popular culture, and watch all of Star Wars in a chronological order. I eventually reached Rebels and it became my favorite show. It also introduced me to Thrawn, and while it may not portray him perfectly, it was good enough to make me feel that there was more than meets the eye. So I picked up the books, and the Thrawn novels and the Chiss culture became my favorite Star Wars thing ever.

Favorite Ascendancy Character? Che'ri baby! (ask me on different days and you'll get different answers)

Favorite Star Wars book / tv show / movie? Thrawn (2017) has my heart. Also Outbound Flight.

Why (or what) are you contributing to the zine? I find Thrawn incredibly interesting and even relatable as the outcast that just wants to help his people. And I love Chiss and their fascinating culture. They are so complex!

Fun Facts: I may not travel with a star ship, but I'm a sailor in the crew of a traditional sailing ship. I also make children's books - with pirates in them.

Howdy! I'm Seteth! I'm a big Star Wars fan and resident Karyn Faro cosplayer! I've been reading these novels for the last three years, and they've been my main source of comfort through rough times. Hello all! I’ve been writing fanfiction for about 3 years now, which is about 6 months after I was first introduced to the Thrawn novels and shortly after I realized no one had written the specific premise I wanted to read. I’ve been a Star Wars fan for much longer, since I was a kid and my parents gave me the VHS tapes to keep me distracted, but never quite figured out where to start with the books. Many years later, I cracked open Thrawn (2017) on a friend’s recommendation, and, well, here I am!

Favorite Ascendancy Character? Currently either Borika or Thrass, don't make me pick!

Favorite Star Wars book / tv show / movie? Of the movies? Rogue One. Of the shows? Andor. Of the books? Lesser Evil.

Why (or what) are you contributing to the zine? This is the first fandom I've properly joined, the fandom that got me writing, and the fandom that's made me so many friends - I'm so excited to work with all the amazing people here to make something awesome!

Fun Facts: My first watch of Rebels was only the Thrawn episodes because my friend was playing Ar'alani in my D&D game. That was a wild way to watch the show! In addition to being a huge nerd, I am also an aspiring novelist and wildlife biologist.

Ace is a digital artist who also crochets! They read the three Thrawn trilogies last year and fell in love with all the characters and Chiss culture as a whole. While Thrass will always be their favourite, they also enjoy any Thrawn and Eli content they come across!

Favorite Ascendancy Character: Thrass! (and Eli, everyone's favourite honourary chiss).

Favorite Star Wars book / tv show / movie?: The Clone Wars is what truly got me into Star Wars but the 2017 Thrawn trilogy has my heart.

Why (or what) are you contributing to the zine?: Thrawn became one of my favourite antagonists as soon as I saw him in rebels, which led me to read all three Thrawn trilogies. The entire Chiss culture is so fascinating to me and I love all the character dynamics that were shown in the books so I hope to show some of that in my work for this zine! Fun Fact: Apart from digital art, I also crochet and I'm planning to make a custom Eli Vanto action figure!

Hannah is a freelance artist with an emphasis on wholesome, adventurous art that makes people smile. She creates both fanart and original art to sell on her Etsy shop and at conventions. She more recently fell into the Star Wars fandom and quickly became obsessed with Thrawn and the Chiss, which continue to inspire her various creative pursuits–such as cosplay! Hannah is an avid cosplayer with several Star Wars cosplays under her belt. One day, she aspires to cosplay a Chiss.

Why (or what) are you contributing to the zine? SWR got me to read Zahn's Thrawn books and now I'm obsessed with Thrawn and the Chiss. Plus, Thalias is one of the few female characters I relate to. I just love the relationships, dynamics, and asthetic of the Chiss. I love how Zahn has written them and I love painting them!

Fun Facts:

I started watching SWR in January 2020 as a "background" show while I worked on art. Haha that didn't work. I've been obsessed with SW ever since, especially Thrawn. After reading all of Zahn's SW books, I started collecting and reading his other scifi and fantasy books - all 60+ of them. I now own and have read all but a handful of them.
