The 11-year-old girl from North Carolina was told that removing the BB could potentially cause more damage to her neck and throat.
According to police, an 11-year-old victim—identified by local outlets as Lillie Lewis— arrived at the emergency room suffering from a neck injury that was discovered to be a BB gunshot.
The authorities were alerted about the child's injuries and she was transported to another hospital for medical treatment where it was determined that surgery was not an option.
The bullet that hit Lewis was only millimeters from hitting a major artery in her neck and removal could cause more damage, WRAL reported.
Hundreds of anti-gun violence groups across the nation will once again come together for a day of remembrance for “Concert Across America to End Gun Violence”. One group is gathering at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in West Palm Beach for a concert. They are not only being brought together by music. Unfortunately they’re also coming together as victims of gun violence. But they are making a stand against it.
