Parents: Stop forcing your kids to apologize for something they CLEARLY have no remorse for.
1. You are forcing your child to apologize. They learn nothing from this. They are only apologizing because you told them to.
They do not care about what they did. Only that they got caught. Sometimes they don't even care they got caught.
2. The amount of disrespect you show as a parent when you do this.
Do you not care that your child clearly doesn't have any remorse for their actions? This might make it seem like YOU don't care what they did either and only want to quickly shut up the person your child affronted.
3. Your child might now think that almost anything they get up to, can just be excused with a "sorry." They will probably do it again. Or just be sneaky about it.
4. You teach them that it is perfectly fine to fake remorse. You don't encourage them to feel real empathy/sympathy whatsoever with trying to force artificial feelings from them.
5. This. Turns your child. Into an asshole.
Please stop turning your children into little assholes, thanks.
Side note: This is a personal aggreivance. (Get this smarmy, unapologetic little shit out of my face. Lmao. They clearly don't care.)
