help this js reminded me i have nothing (not even an outline..) written down for chapter 42, shark week was pretty bad this month so ill probably update by tuesday js to stink to updates every tuesday, maybe if the ao3 gods bless me with the motivation i had when first publishing Ghidorah’s Voice i can finish this week so i can publish my next one. ANYWAYY!

1. Honestly, over Jonah..? It’s because Jonah is past his prime age-wise, a broke and wanted-by-the-globe fugitive, as opposed to Ren, who is at his peak age and career wise, makes a lot more than the average person, and wasn’t a criminal until after the events of GVK. It’s worth pointing out all of Ren’s rage just so happens to be directed towards Ghidorah’s biggest rival, Godzilla and Jonah simply wants to kill humanity as a whole, not to mention Jonah became disillusioned with the Titans after Ghidorah failed to meet his goal.

2. I wouldn’t say Ren has a favorite, but without a doubt, the most appealing to him is Ni because of the similarities they share. Both are the black sheep’s of their lineage, both are more of a threat than their superiors (Ichi and Simmons, respectively — some may argue Ichi is the most dangerous, but it depends on how you look at it.) both are kept on a leash by said superiors, both get frustrated when said superiors order them around but ultimately do what they say against their better judgment, and both are resentful, bitter individuals. I notice the fandom often waters Ni down to the angry one, which, fair enough because there’s only so much characterization you can give to a CGI dragon, but when creating my take on Ni, I modeled him after Nam-gyu from Squid Game, so my take on Ni hates being talked down upon, has an inferiority-superiority complex, really only shows how awful he can be when he’s let off his leash, most importantly, I see a lot of the fandom make Ni loud and angry, but the point I was trying to make with this statement is Ni is a quiet, resentful kind of angry. Ren considers Ni the most tolerable head because San CONSTANTLY reminds him of something stupid he did at fifteen, Ichi talks to Ren in a way that makes him believe he’s being pitied and Ren canonically associates being pitied with being mocked, so in short, he thinks Ichi’s mocking him (He’s not far off, Ghidorah calls him Puppet to his face and he doesn’t do anything about it, showing how much self respect he really has when it comes to killing Godzilla..) Which leaves Ni.

‘ghidorah’s voice’ headcanon dump because its been awhile 🥀

(a lot of these are just my monsterverse and beyond headcanons since ghidorahs voice doesnt diverge that far from the monsterverse as a whole)

- As much as I joke about it, Nathan doesn’t have romantic feelings for Ren (not in this story, anyway) it’s more of an envy that he feels for Ren. Something I noticed about Nathan in GVK is someone was always on his neck making a snarky comment (Maia, Ilene, even Jia 💀) and he was dismissed as a crackpot for believing in the Hollow Earth, so while Nathan was wallowing in his sorrows after losing his brother, here comes the Monsterverse’s equivalent to Justin Hammer saying that he was right all along, and to his side is Ren, nodding along to everything he says. Ren has had no problem achieving what Nathan has spent his entire career chasing: respect, unlimited resources and funding for his projects, and from Nathan’s perspective, he handled the loss of a family member like a champ, compared to Nathan who (originally) fell into alcohol similarly to Mark. Lastly, in the deleted bar scene, Ren was the only character who didn’t make a snide remark toward Nathan throughout the film.

- It comes as no surprise that Stanton likes Rick and Morty considering his character is canonically based off Rick Sanchez, but yeah— Stanton enjoys all kinds of adult shows and I like to think he hosted the SNL sketch that featured a parody of Ren.

- Originally, I was going to have the lawyer character of Shindo be an Xilien in disguise who was tasked to keep an eye on Ren (think of Black Widow’s role in Iron Man 2) and there was going to be a scene of the two of them in the same woods Logan Paul recorded a body in to dig up a Ghidorah skull, but I didn’t want to turn the heroic Shindo from the early films into a villain, looking back, I should have just given him a different name, so maybe i’ll write a scene of this hypothetical and leave it on my blog for anyone who wishes to read.

- Controller X!Ren isn’t anywhere near as crazy as his Final Wars counterpart, his fits of maniac laughter are either him getting carried away with the moment (similarly to when he piloted Mechagodzilla and started calling himself god in the novelization) or just playing a character to scare the shit out of Monarch.

- Considering Mechagodzilla consisted of San’s remains, Ren’s brain, and an AI, that would mean Ren unfortunately doesn’t only support AI, but he modeled one.. 💀 However, I like to imagine this is what opened a lot of governments eyes about the dangers of AI and finally forced them to put restrictions on artificial intelligence.

- It’s implied in the novelization that the rampaging Mechagodzilla specifically targeted Godzilla due to Ren’s remains being nothing but his hatred for Godzilla, with that being said, Ren did briefly die in ‘Ghidorah’s Voice’ so when Ghidorah says he saved Ren’s life, he’s actually telling the truth, because while Ichi and Ni casually waltzed out of Apex in Ren’s body, Ren’s consciousness was in the mecha alongside San, so when San was defeated, he took Ren’s consciousness back to his body with him, esstientally reviving him.

- As stated in the fic itself, San saw EVERYTHING on the internet while he was bored in Mechagodzilla, he surfed the web and was probably like: “why is there so much porn of me..”

- With or without Ghidorah’s blessings, Ren would have eventually developed psychic abilities since I imagine it takes more than 5% of the human brain to pilot a literal death machine, he unintentionally learned what it was like when a human uses more than 5% of their brain. (think of the movie lucy with scarjo!) and would have gone on to master it, Ghidorah’s influence just amplified them and sped up the process.

- The real reason Bernie wanted to hear Simmons finish his speech is because he had hopes Simmons would spill the identity of GhidoraStan64, however, Simmons took it to his grave after years of holding it over Ren’s head.

- Due to someone surviving her HEAV getting crushed, Maia probably walks with noticeable injuries and has difficulties running.. It’s a wonder how she successfully kidnapped Jia and Ilene. I think this is a neat addition because that means the trio consisting of herself, Raymond Martin, and Ren are all deformed in some way.

- San and Gigan actually get along really well, it’s not uncommon for Ghidorah’s allies to fawn over San because of his personality, but San and Gigan are on another level— San often wishes he had his own body just so he could destroy planets alongside Gigan. Monster X is like their one mutual friend who introduced them and they ended up getting closer.

- On the topic of Gigan, the reason Jonah had his head was because I imagine there is Titan bidding auctions similar to JW and Jonah used the money Simmons gave him for San’s severed head in order to purchase Gigan’s severed head.. What goes around, comes around!

- San loves to ragebait Ni, he will cut Ni off mid-sentence by loudly going: “What?” Just so Ni will repeat himself only for San to cut him off again.

- If anyone has seen Squid Game, Ni is actually a lot like Nam-gyu, from resenting their superior, to being violet individuals, to picking on those weaker than him, to having an inferiority-superiority complex, Ni is one nasty individual with barely-concealed rage just beneath the surface. According to Michael Dougherty, Ni secretly wishes he was in charge, and that def applies to my take on Ni.

- Ichi is well aware of Ni’s resentment towards himself and San as well as Ni’s desire to usurp him and he often purposefully sides with San when San intentionally pushes Ni’s buttons solely to antagonize Ni and see if he’ll actually act on his desire to usurp Ichi. (spoiler: he never does, not in the main GV universe, anyway.)

- According to an interview with Demian Bichir, Maia’s mother fell in love with Walter due to his oddly impressive pianist skills, so I imagine Walter wasn’t always wealthy and somehow got stupidly rich by dumb luck. I don’t think we’ll ever meet Mrs. Simmons, so it’s safe to assume Walter pulled a Trump and has her body in some unmarked grave. Does Maia give a shit? Probably not.

- Lastly, any actors who have played a role in the Monsterverse I imagine simply don’t exist as themselves.. This is mostly because of Thomas Middleditch (Sam Coleman’s) real life sexual misconduct allegations and forcing ex his wife into an open relationship, but it’s also for the sake of neatness.

do you have any hcs for the three Ghidorah heads?

i know you only asked ab the ghidorah heads but i’ve been dying for a ghidorahs voice hc dump so im taking this as ‘do you have any headcanons for ghidorahs voice?’ which i do!

- since ghidorahs roar is more of a high-pitched screech or cackle, i’ve always imagined his voice was high pitched and bordered on feminine with a demonic edge, so i’d say he sounds like ‘HIM’ from powerpuff girls, obviously ichi ni and san have slightly different voices but HIM is the closest i could find.

- ghidorah saw all 33 years of rens life play out while in the coma as if it were a movie, meaning they saw lots of unpleasant things they’d rather not see (interpret this how you will)

- ichi actually isn’t the best at combat, obviously hes ghidorah and can fight, but he’s much more gifted in psychological torment and usually says something to get under his enemies skin AND THEN going for the kill after stunning them.

- additionally, ichi pays attention very heavily to body language, he’s learned lots of sign of human nervousness and human body language in general from the three years he spent in a comatose rens mind, going through his memories.

- ni has always wanted to usurp ichi, he just knows ichi is way smarter than him and is uncertain on whether san would be on board. ~~possible au where ni and san successfully erase ichi’s consciousness and instead have ren/x upload his consciousness to mecha king ghidorahs middle head.. making ren the cady haron to ichis regina george LMAO~~

- that being said, i’ve always liked the idea of ni being the henchman whos objectively more evil than their superior, ni is the best fighter out of the three and though he believes they would’ve killed godzilla in round one under their leadership, ni lacks the critical thinking to plan attacks and is a very ‘claws on’ kinda guy so he wouldn’t want to waste time planning.

- san is big on theatrics and dramatics so while in rens body, he often drags his trenchcoat as if it were a cape.

- san is more mockingly curious than genuinely curious abt human life, like the tags of ghidorahs voice states, he is __just__ as much of a villain as his brothers, the three of them are simply different villain archtypes who hate eachother and wouldn’t work together if they weren’t attached to the same body.

- ghidorastan64 was one of the chris chan trolls, i got this idea because i watch chris chan documentaries while writing 💀

- hate isnt a strong enough word to describe how ren/X feels about vivienne graham and godzilla— for the same reason, might i add! he feels they stole ishiros time and attention from him.

- ren/X views ghidorah as a sensei figure of sorts, he believed ghidorah saved his life and would’ve died from electrocution in 2024 if it weren’t for ghidorahs interference and since ghidorah has unintentionally shown more and pride interest in his accomplishments than ishiro has, ren/X may even go as far as to viewing ghidorah as a father figure, though he still deems ishiro irreplaceable, ghidorah is a close second.

- that being said, the father/son affections are completely onesided and all three heads of ghidorah view ren/x as a desperate puppet, a means to an end— they capitalize on his hatred for godzilla and overall mean spirited nature to mold him into the perfect lapdog.

duh!! i love worldbuilding on the little things so lets get it !

- ren serizawa in the ghidorahs voice au attended an elitist tokyo school from the years 2006-2009, his father was a fairly public figure who often preached about balances long before the 2014 attack which resulted in ren having a big target on his back throughout his school days, already having few friends due to being reserved on top of now being bullied.

- ghidorastan64 wasn’t born until a particular incident involving one of rens peers going out of his way to put a salamander in his shoe, which can easily be considered the straw that broke the camels back.

- when ren got home that day, he did what any angry chronically online teenager in that era and beyond would do and created ‘ghidorastan64’ as a means to take out his frustration on others, its worth noting the internet was a very different place than it is today, with that being said, he frequently targeted monarch pages, pro titan pages, vivienne graham in particular, and later went on to troll real life lolcows such as chris chan.

- ren DID NOT know ghidorah was a real thing when he created the username, to him, it was an evil creature from mythology and he had no idea said creature would fuck him over.

- nowadays, the ghidorastan64 account became so infamous several people began to use the handle— this means ren wasn’t the only one trolling bernie and a few copycat trolls came along down the line. even nearly 20 years after the account was made, controller x!ren considers this his biggest secret and feels true fear whenever someone refers to him as ghidorastan64 as opposed to X.

What would Ren be doing to get proof of Madison‘s ghidorah curse to Walter?

these are unique hypotheticals so let me dive in!

- i imagine madison would be way more resistant since as opposed to ren who has a similar dynamic to cletus and carnage, madison and ghidorah could have a similar dynamic to flash and (anti?) venom, idk i dont tap into that side of marvel much but what i mean is madison is an unwilling host

- i think madison would be more vocal ab what happened to her, ghidorah might js use her as a carrier to give him a more useful vessel since madison lacks the skill to achieve any of his goals

- i think if walter survived (say him and madison were standing on opposite sides of the control room in gvk) he would have a legitimate reason to hate titans since you didn’t state whether or not his daughter, maia survived i assume she didn’t and since he’s established as a powerful person where ‘no cost is too high for him’ he could prolly sue the living hell out of monarch and put them out of commission, if hes anything like real world billionaires who get so bored with their money they decide to buy their way into having their hands in politicians pockets, he could go as far as to throwing mark and friends behind bars, blaming bernie for mechagodzilla going rogue

- honestly, ren might not even be involved at all and could’ve went on to align himself with some other anti-titan organization, since he only saw simmons as a stepping stone, it can be assumed his loyalties did not lie w apex at all and he was only sticking around so he could personally kill godzilla, but since that failed, he could be elsewhere.
