Convenience Fees/Surcharges for using Debit-Credit Card
Convenience Fees/Surcharges for using Debit-Credit Card
Whether you are a consumer (like me) or a business owner cost is always a key consideration.
Lately, I have noticed companies adding convenience fees, surcharges for using debit/credit care, health fees to pay for employee health benefits and/or a living wage issue. No doubt, operating cost are a critical component is pricing a product. Some merely add the cost to the product, some separate it…

"WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS..."
“WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS…”
Be warned: today is a day to jump up on your soapbox and vent about stuff we hate in the things we love.
You preach it Peter!
For the last week I’ve been consumed by all things soccer (aka “football for any non-Americans out there). I’ve been a fan of the sport ever since I could yell “Goal” (or whatever the catchphrase was way back when). And every four years I glue myself to the TV to watch the…

the biggest bullshit in the history of the internet is online "convenience fees." bitch, please. it is a convenience for YOU. by purchasing this thing online I am saving YOU money. YOU don't have to pay people to be customer service representatives. YOU don't have to pay people to accept transactions. no, the online system does it for you. so stop this bullshit about convenience fees. you're inconveniencing me by making me pay 2.45% for paying for classes online (as if university weren't already hella expensive) or by making me pay $10 on an already $40 ticket price--you just upped the price to $50; my charge is now half of $100. that's fucking bullshit.
Don't Gouge Me Bro!
Is it just me, or are people getting really sick of the online registration and ticketing sites that are charging outrageous “convenience” fees? What exactly is the convenience? It’s not like it’s not bad enough that they make you jump through hoops to register for an account with them. Then they make you wade through all of the “special offers” from their sponsors. When you are finally ready to pay for your registration or ticket… the gouging begins. Ouch! Then to add insult to injury they email you over and over again with more offers you don’t want. Seriously? How long are we going to subject our attendees to this?
We have been listening and building. It’s time for a paradigm shift. We are not content to just build a cool platform. We are on a relentless pursuit to change the model; because frankly, it sucks for everyone. Posted November 11 2009, 4:03 PM
