7, 8, and 9 for the oc ask uwu

Alright, sounds good to me! Although, I did have to answer 8 and 9 first for reasons that will soon become apparent:

8. Which of your OCs would you consider the weirdest, and why?

It's gotta be Elmira or Cathniel. Elmira's a mad scientist who views ethics as a suggestion and enjoys doing stuff just because she can. If she was able to make something really crazy like a nuclear bomb or a particle reactor, she would just because the option was on the table. And then would try using it just because she wanted to see what would happen. And she wouldn't care much about how anybody felt about it, either. But let it be known that she's not completely wacko. She's unlikely to do something that would straight up kill everybody... For the most part, anyway.

Meanwhile, Cathniel is a more "traditional" brand of weird. He's the type of guy who would join a wedding or funeral and just. Be there. Nobody knows who he is or who invited him, but what they do know is that he's in all the photos now. He's the kind of man that can go from voicing his thoughts out loud to having a full-blown conversation with himself, and he will not care if anybody stares at him. He can be thoroughly entertained by something as simple as a butterfly flying around his backyard or a song somebody's humming nearby. He was imbued with the power of the Mother Elf because he decided to treat her like a sentient person instead of a source of energy like the rest of his colony, and is now on-par with an eldritch being. He has a strong sense of justice and will rarely hesitate to tear someone asunder because they acted in a way that violated his moral principles. He was also raised underground and accidentally stole a horse for his girlfriend once because that's how much he loves her.

9. Which of your OCs do you think you would get along with best in real life?

If we operate under the assumption that none of them would know that I created them and that I am personally responsible for all of their suffering (because let's be honest. If they did, most of them would either try to kill me or stay as far away from me as humanly possible. I put these people through the ringer every chance I get), then I'd say I would probably get along with someone mild-mannered like... Sally, maybe. Or perhaps one of the younger characters, like Katherine or Anita. Definitely Anita, actually. She's a baby. Babies are easy to get along with - and cute, too.

7. Which of your OCs has the most tragic backstory and why?

Honestly? I had to do some thinking on this one (almost all of my OCs lives suck in some way, shape, or form). But I did eventually come up with an answer. It's a long one, though, so it's under a cut. Hence why I responded to the questions out of order- A warning does apply for mentions of abuse, though. Reader discretion is advised from this point on.

To cut to the chase, the answer is Newbert.

He started life as an eighteen-year-old factory reploid, working aside the other 299 members of his line - only somebody screwed up and made them all sixteen. And because that violated one of the last few labor laws protecting reploids that Neo Arcadia had at the time, they all got gaslit into thinking they're older than they are. He then spent the next two years of his life living in less-than-ideal-conditions, with him having to watch several of his siblings die due to factory accidents, corners being cut in how they were built to save costs, and other unfortunate happenings. Combine that with how they were abused by their factory's Foreman and how Newbert had an Operator (basically the guy who was directly responsible for him and also his creator) who couldn't decide if he wanted to be his father or treat him like he was just another tool, and homeboy was having a rough one.

All of this continues until he's 18 (note: Newbert didn't see himself as twenty. Instead, all of the lies about his age sort-of "tricked" his AI into thinking his age had stagnated until he actually turned 18). By that point, so many of his linemates had died that the factory was actively looking for replacements. And lucky for them, another factory not too far away was closing down, and they didn't want to scrap a bunch of perfectly good workers. Newbert's factory ended up taking them in, leading to him meeting his first love, Petra. Everything is great until Petra and her linemates look around and go "Wow. We are getting treated like trash. We deserve better than this." This leads to a bloodless rebellion that ends with the factory workers successfully kicking their superiors and the Operators out (and also a final confrontation between Newbert and his Operator that ends with Newbert straight up asking the man why he built him - and his Operator just... doesn't answer. (As one can imagine, this plays a big role in Newbert's people-pleasing tendencies.)) Unfortunately for them, Neo Arcadia Does Not Like This and sends a whole bunch of soldiers to kill all of them. Petra sacrifices herself so that Newbert can hide safely (note: this haunts him for a very, very long time). There are few survivors of this attack. Among the casualties are Petra and a linemate he loved like a younger brother. And did I mention that all of Newbert's linemates look identical? Which means that he technically gets to see himself dead dozens of times over.

This all happens in the same year, by the way. Things keep getting worse from here. At age 19 he decides to get revenge on Neo Arcadia for killing most of his family and his girlfriend by working with some other people to harvest the organs of reploids loyal to Neo Arcadia (why else is he in the habit of carrying those knives on him all the time?). He eventually mellows out and does so to help people and make a living, but as one can imagine, harvesting people's organs takes a toll on one's psyche. Combine that with how he also has to become a surgeon and put the organs into other people to save their lives (and he does lose some patients from time-to-time), and this guy starts having issues with his job pretty quickly. Then he and his homies get arrested. And while Newbert's able to escape, his friends are not so lucky and end up executed. All of this put together just... makes this the worst year of Newbert's life. Objectively.

But we're not done yet! It keeps going! At age 20, Newbert joins a gang! Good news is that they are the most chill gang ever (the most they do is loot and vandalize abandoned buildings, take organs off of reploid corpses, and occasionally get into turf wars with people... where they fight over the abandoned buildings-). Because Newbert would be really bad at being a gang member otherwise. He just does not have it in him. But that does not spare him from the psychological weight of everything that has happened to him up until this point. He spends this year of his life numb and depressed - and this is also when he begins suffering from symptoms of PTSD (and C-PTSD? From how I write him, he would actually have both at once, but in response to different traumas and triggers? But the research I've done as to whether or not it's possible for a person to have both is... inconclusive? I don't know. Perhaps more research is needed).

But towards the end of age 20 he joins the Resistance! Finally! Joy! Happiness! Freedom - oh wait no. Never mind, guys, he becomes friends with Elpizo, ends up as the victim of a vicious smear campaign after opening up to him one (1) time, and half of the base thinks he's a cannibal now. And he goes through the horrors of Z2, 3, and 4. And then he dies, only to come back to life over 3000 years later. Y'all can pack up the cake and stuff, the celebration's cancelled-

Long story short, Newbert's a big shoo-in for the winner of the "Whose Life Sucks the Most" award, simply because of the sheer volume of things that happen to him. And the consequences. There are so many consequences. My guy was born as a perfectly normal, happy teenager, and is now a twenty-two-year old man with PTSD/C-PTSD, is a people pleaser, and somehow has to raise a whole fourteen-year-old he found in a hole while having very little life skills thanks to The Horrors. Such is life.

("Fun" fact: Nexus and Idalia's backstories originally made me feel that this would be a three-way tie, but for different reasons. This could have been worse.)
