We all know that Washington state housing prices are out of control. Here is someone's former 1905 garage, converted to a "house" that they are now selling for $339,900 in Spokane, WA. 2bds, 2ba, 1,458sqft. Wow, $340k for this. I wonder if it's even insulated. It's dubbed the "Beach House" b/c Riverfront Park, Downtown, etc., are walkable.
The description calls this a "traditional front porch with Victorian turnings," and a "paver driveway" for 2 cars. Note the highway overhead.
The double front doors are simply fitted to the former garage door opening. So, they open into the combo living room/kitchen.
The buyer has the option to purchase the furnishings with it.
Not thrilled w/the security of the front doors.
This bedroom is so tiny, and as you can see, it has an ensuite.
It's nice to have, but it really cuts down on the size of the bedroom.
This would be the primary bedroom. It's also small and doesn't appear to have a closet.
This room looks like it's in the added bump-out on the side of the house.
Bath #2 is a standard 3pc. located in the basement that was dug in 2000.
It looks like there's a chipboard floor.
There's also a laundry room with a closet down here.
This is amazing. it’s a former mechanic’s garage reborn as a rugged industrial home in Lyon, France. It’s full of character, thanks to its colossal steel-framed windows and exposed ceiling rafters.
An old Parisienne-style bistro bar repurposed as the kitchen.
The open floor plan has been optimized to create space for three bedrooms via a mezzanine level added beneath its soaring pitched roof.
Cabinetry from the building’s previous life is also reused along with reclaimed timbers for added authenticity.
One of the bedrooms on the mezzanine is just a simple space with a mattress on the floor and a skylight above.
The bath is large. Love the vintage tub.
Steel-framed glass opens onto the courtyard garden, and there’s a terrace that offers a sunny spot for sunbathing.
The building still houses a workshop with vintage signs and is fitted with a mechanic’s lift for car lovers to work in their own space.
James made himself what many men dream of: Living in a garage. James is an interior designer and this made the task of transforming an old garage in Amsterdam into a comfortable loft, a lot easier.
Aren’t the glass walls great? And look at the light the home gets. The decor is masculine, but it could really work for anyone.
Desk area in the living room.
James’s collections around the apt.
Beautiful industrial style dining room table and lighting. A passionate collector of antiques, the objects and furniture were almost all mined at flea markets in Paris or purchased at internet auctions. According to him, his house is like “a museum where people are not afraid to touch objects.”
The kitchen is along one wall and there’s a lot of storage. Love the dark grout in the subway tile backsplash.
The master bedroom is small, but it has built in shelving and a great shelf for a motorcycle display.
Love the bathroom. He has one of those vintage work tables as a sink vanity.
With the original façade of the garage preserved, no one can imagine what the old door hides in that address. James says he can't get enough of the surprised expression of the visitors when he opens the door.
Alban searched 3 yrs. for a home w/room to entertain his friends. He found this garage, took his dad, who is a builder, to look at it, and he knew he’d found the perfect place.
Look at it, now. Amazing. The building already had great beams.
The compact kitchen is set up like a coffee bar.
Off to the side, by the stairs, is a little game nook w/a Foosball table.
The bedroom- mattress on 3 pallets is a thrifty idea, and very cool.
Upstairs, is a TV room. (Look at the silly cat sitting in the table.) Now, he has lots of space for friends.
Coralie downsized by moving from a large 1 bdrm. apt. to the garage-turned-cabin. It was originally an Airbnb listing, but turned into a permanent rental.
The ladder in the kitchen leads to the sleep loft.
It takes a lot of effort to keep the space clutter-free, but Coralie’s content and feels it’s worth it to live in her cozy little cabin.
