Still life with Calla lilies from the garden in a vintage @kleinreid tall green vase, against a wall made of convict brick*. Light. Shadows. Colours. Textures. Juxtaposition. (🎶”..these are a few of my favourite things..”🎶) 😂 *Convict Bricks were made by incarcerated brickmakers working in gangs at the Brickfields (now the area of Central Railway Station in Sydney) The convicts dug up the clay, and then moulded, fired and delivered the bricks in their thousands every day. ... In the 1820s all government bricks were marked with a broad arrow to make them identifiable and to prevent theft by the convicts. All of these convict bricks were salvaged from old houses and factories in the city. I was thinking about painting over them (they’re very dated looking) but it makes me sad when I think about the human hands that touched and made these bricks. It would almost be like erasing their lives and their stories. * * * * * * * #convictbricks #callalily #kleinreid #midcenturymodernhome #supergorgeousness #instagay #helleaux #learningtosee #artnerd #inspirationiseverywhere #instagrammers #appropriation #artfag #arthag #Helleaux #StayAtHomeModel #shotoniPhone (at Newport, New South Wales, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQPAclbrv_9/?utm_medium=tumblr
