Useful DIY skills that mean I can actually be fairly self reliant?

No, no. I got this.

(On the flip side) Hey could you sew this for me?

Er yes but go learn some useful life skills yourself. (On a serious note, sewing and mending clothing is a very useful skill to have, especially if you're travelling. To practise just grab a needle and thread and have a go. Worst that happens is your mend undoes, then you just have another go at fixing it until it doesn't.)

Not wearing makeup.

'Preconditioned to think she's ugly/less attractive/frumpy'

It's convenient okay- do you know how much time and money I don't spend on makeup? It's great.

Shirts: see also polo shirts.

Omg these are so useful- roll sleeves up if it's hot, wear em down if it's cool, wear it over a vest if you want something different.

WHAT do you mean it looks weird if I want to wear it with a tie for smart?! I shouldn't have to choose between a strip of cloth or a whole new outfit.

Shoes. Shoes that are comfortable, that you can actually move around easily in and aren't going to risk breaking an ankle in.

Err, if you're not butch, why are you dressed like a bloke?

Because what you preconceive as masculine, is actually convenient.

This has got better. Female form trousers with large pockets? yes thank you. But it's still a problem.

It's practical okay? Not butch.
