This years WorldCon,#ConZealand, is entirely virtual, despite New Zealand's admirable track record in fighting coronavirus. On the plus side, that means I get to participate!

I was looking forward to Worldcon in 2020, CoNZealand. New Zealand won the bid for that year.
Now I don’t know if I will go.
I refuse to hand over my private details. It’s not about wrongdoing; I have never done any of the things that they enacted this flimsy, poorly written law to try to stop.
No. If you read the article, the pretext for seizure of electronic devices does not include the seizing officers outlining in any way, shape, or form specifically what the “probable causes” are provoking the seizure.
That’s police state mentality.
That’s an open license for bigotted enforcement agents to target people based on their personal racism, sexism, ableism, & worse, & claim “probable cause” gave them “sufficient suspicion” to confiscate the personal data information of anyone who doesn’t look “sufficiently innocent” ...e.g., exactly like they think someone “sufficiently innocent” should look.
I get enough of that crap here.
...On a practical note, this means that I--and other authors--will not be able to do any readings from any works-in-progress from electronic versions, and as it’s bloody expensive to pack for a trans-Pacific flight and luggage space has to be maximized in effectiveness, I cannot take any physical hardcopies to read from.
I won’t even be able to take a cellphone, even though I have a phone plan that’s supposed to be supported internationally even in places as far away as New Zealand. i won’t be able to contact my traveling companions, or emergency services, without incurring extra expenses and wasted time from purchasing a local phone and a local plan, and that takes hours and hundreds of dollars, and it’s already expensive enough to travel.
I need something to distract me from air travel, or I get motion sick...and airplanes are not guaranteed to have working video screens or radio channels. I had one flight that was 15 hours long, the in-flight amenities did not work, and I was lucky I was using a music player that I could replenish the AA batteries on it. (I had to buy more batteries as soon as I landed, because I ran through every single pair I’d brought.)
This is going to kill New Zealand’s tourist industry. That’s sad, because it got a huge and much-needed boost from the Lord of the Rings & Hobbit movies. It’s a relatively small nation population-wise with a fairly large landmass, and it needs the income from positive tourism experiences.

I wanna nominate the Magnus Archives for a Hugo. I’m thinking episode 160 for Best Short Form Production, which I reckon is going to be the most appropriate, but maybe the entirety of Season 4 would count for Best Long Form Production? Maybe both? Anyone have an opinion on this?
