Update Schmupdate!
So the past 2 years or so! Where did they go?
Unbeknownst to some of you, I was in the midst of my studies at Barnard College (the women's college at Columbia University) in New York City when I decided to take a semester of to work as a stewardess on luxury yachts. However, the day came when I had to return to my studies and TADA! it was my senior year. Back at Barnard, I settled on majoring in Architectural History and Theory in order to remain in cahoots with the illustrious Departmental Chair & noted architect Karen Fairbanks. Karen is not only a talented architect, but a wonderful advisor as well, and gave me a lot of leeway to do a thesis project that truly interested me. After an epic and accidental adventure with a street cart delivery man, I settled on exploring the nexus of mobile food vendors and urban infrastructure in New York City. Simultaneously, I blogged for celebrity Chef Marcus Samuellson and you can see some of my blog posts on the topic of street food (and others) here. Between graduation in May of 2011 and present time (October 2012), I have held 5 jobs, from cooking to serving and everything in between, and explored the food scenes of 3 different cities (New York, Chicago, and Portland). What's REALLY happening right now, though, is that I am starting an internship in Food and Beverage service at a high-end hotel in Barcelona. My upcoming posts will focus on my time in Spain, but will be interspersed with periodic musings on my past experiences in hospitality (at least the PG version). Stay tuned, chickadees!
