Cookie Good, 2448 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90403
Born out of the Hollywood writer’s strike of 2008, Cookie Good was founded by a writer who baked. Initially based from a home kitchen, they opened their cookie shop in Santa Monica in 2014. Flavors change about every 2-3 weeks usually and they do get creative (e.g., Pineapple Upside Down Cake cookie, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos cookie) but they offer classic cookies too. The cookies are inspired by childhood and the joys of eating a good cookie.
The current cookie flavors are posted on their website. During my visit they had 20 cookie flavors, including gluten-free flavors. They also bake brownies and cookie bars. Cookies are $2.50 each or $27/dozen. They also have a mystery dozen for $14 (you don’t get to choose the flavors). Flavors included Apple Jacks, Chocolate Glazed Donut, S’mores, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter Pretzel, and more. And you can get milk (lowfat, whole, almond).
The cookies are normal size, usually about 3 inches in diameter. They’re not super thick. They did look well made – carefully frosted, uniform in size, round, etc. You can see that they’re baked with care.
Chocolate chip: Crispy edges, softer towards the middle, lots of chocolate chips (semi-sweet?). Good and basic. It’s smaller than the chocolate chip cookies that I’m used to but still very good – could use maybe a little more salt and more types of chocolate chips. A little dry.
Cheetos: Surprisingly good! Like a cornbread cookie with a fine dusting of Cheetos on top (enough that you can taste the Cheetos but they aren’t overwhelming). A softer cookie.
Candy, candy, candy: Made with Baby Ruth, Kit Kat, M&Ms, Milky Way, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup & Snickers. Similar to the chocolate chip cookie but packed with candy pieces. The edges were crispy but the cookie was gooey and rich. I kept tasting different candy bars and M&Ms.
The cookies come with instructions for storage. Cookies freeze well.
The shop is small and cute. They bake in the back of the shop. The front of the shop has a display case of cookies. Closed on Sundays. They also have wood gift boxes and can individually wrap cookies with custom labels.

You know that feeling when you receive a package and unwrap it? Well what if inside the package is a stack of beautifully colored cookies. You take your first bite of a perfectly baked cookie and you detect a slight crunch through that crisp exterior and then enjoy the chewy center. It’s that little buttery essence with slightly sweet and salty notes that tantalize your taste buds and make you…
