#cooking failure

I was really excited to post a picture of my grammy's spaghetti today and possibly the recipe.. but long story short it didn't turn out. The garlic bread I made didn't turn out either. I threw mine in the trash and am now crying in my room.

In other words.. sometimes things just don't turn out how you planned and rn idk how to cope.

Hello !!! Can I ask for headcanons about Drautos, Libertus, Crowe, Tredd, Nyx and Cor ? Their S/O tried to surprise them with a homemade meal, but it turned out that it's completely not edible. how would they react ? (I do not dare ask for drabbles because maybe I ask for too much characters...). Thank you and have a lovely day !!!

Hi Anon, thanks for the ask! I’m going with there’s no way the food can be saved, here. 

Cor shrugs, says something along the lines of “you tried”, and gets out the cereal and milk. 

Crowe stared wide-eyed at the food before saying she could really go for pizza, let’s go get pizza, yeah?

Drautos tells them he can’t eat that and they shouldn’t, and offers to call for takeout. 

Libertus tries to help them figure out what went wrong with the recipe, and then will go grab burgers or such. 

Nyx laughs (in a kind way), cleans up the ruined food with them, and offers to cook together. 

Tredd stared at the food, then at them, before finally choking out a “no” and making a sandwich.

Ugh, overdid it again! Doing this is a pain to begin with.

My brother wanted waffles, but took the car before I could run to the store for ingredients. I couldn’t run to the store until 9:30 at night, couldn’t start on the batter until 10 am. Making waffle batter for tomorrow’s breakfast...

I have no idea if this turned out alright, I guess I won’t know until tomorrow. Good thing this wasn’t a meringue or I’d be screwed.

My mom and I have tried to make tzimmes twice in the last two days. Tried and failed both times. We’ve both successfully made tzimmes before. Maybe the two of us being together has caused a Pesach, sweet-potato related convergence? I got nothing.

The white sauce incident

It was such a stupid thing. He asked me to make the white sauce for the pasta. “I don’t know how” I told him. “Yes you do” he replied. “You have always made it before”. “Nope, I’ve always fucked it up and had to add loads of cheese” I replied. “Besides, we don’t have all the ingredients”. I thought the conversation was over.

Later he told me that the pasta was almost ready, I just had to make the sauce. I reminded him of our earlier conversation, he still didn’t believe that I couldn’t make an edible white sauce. So I gave up, I asked him to shred some cheese “I don’t want a cheese sauce” he said. I attempted the fucking white sauce. Of course it didn’t work, no butter or baking margarine, just the cheapest spreading margarine imaginable (the stuff is basically plastic but it is what he likes), the kids have broken the whisk and spatula, and we only have skim milk.

He couldn’t understand why I was crying into the chunky mess in the pan. He offered to throw it out so I could try again. The second batch was even worse. Both undercooked and strangely singed at the same time. That’s when the fight started. He kept on trying to get me to stop making sauce, I couldn’t. My brain got stuck in a loop, make the fucking sauce, make the fucking sauce and watch him choke on it.

Not the healthiest of mental healths, I know. But it’s frustrating being ignored. It’s frustrating that I remember every little thing about him but he can’t remember all the times that I’ve cried over fucking white sauce before. All the times we’ve had this same fight, him insisting that I can do something and me attempting and failing to do it. And then all the fights and tears that follow. Must be nice to forget your failures and disappointments like that. To not wallow in self pity and recrimination for days.

Must be nice to be able to make a white sauce.

HELP I WAS MAKING MAC N CHEESE BUT I ACCIDENTALLY POURED THE PASTA IN BEFORE I BOILED THE WATER AND WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE POT THE STARCH MADE IT SO I COULDNT SEE THE WATER SO WHEN IT BOILED THERE WAS STILL 1/3 OF THE PASTA IN THERE AND THEYRE OVERCOOKED SO I ONLY LET THE PASTA I TOOK OUT (SOGGY) IN THERE FOR 5 MINUTES BUT ITS STILL ALL OVERCOOKED AND ITS MUSH NOT TO MENTION WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR BUTTER WE NEEDED A STICK AND WE HAD HALF A STICK OUT ALREADY SO I PUT THAT IN BUT I DIDNT KNOW THAT MY MOM WAS CUTTING UP ANOTHER STICK BEHIND ME SO NOW THERES A STICK AND A HALF OF BUTTER IN THERE

I made lunch today, tried a recipe that is new for me

It sucks and I'm really disappointed at myself

Was cooking hamburger helpers for my family and while I was adding in some Old Bay seasoning the freaking cap just needed itself into the pot and half the seasoning in the bottle followed.

Did a silent scream and tried to scoop it out, to no avail. I tried to add some ketchup to mask it. My mother came in and tasted it and I could practically see her soul temporarily leave her body. Immediately I broke down and started smacking my head (something I do when I'm really distressed). I don't mess up dishes often and when I do it's because the portions were wrong. Instead of my parents getting mad at me, my mother held me. My father said he's glad it happened because it was a learning experience for me and now my mom could show how to fix it.

I usually make cakes and breakfast foods so dinner made by me was a rare event for my family and even though I messed it up. Both if them consoled me and told me they weren't mad. That they didn't expect me to pick it up so quickly since I only started making big dishes. It was pretty much unsalvageable in the end.

I felt like crap. I had waisted just about two packs of ground beef, half a gallon of milk, and all kinds of stuff to make this dish.

Bottom line is, I am so thankful to have wonderful parents. Who could have tore into me but instead chose to console and hold me, to look me in my teary eyes and tell me that it was okay. Sometimes we get under each other's skin, but it's moments like these that remind me just how blessed I am. This happened only an hour ago.

I love them so much.
