even worse than being hyperfixated on FFXV and knowing we'll never get another update is specifically being obsessed with Kingsglaive. The one-off movie that killed off two of my favorite characters, has awful ratings, and no one else has thought about more than once in the last five years. I know I'll never see another thing in my life about that movie and I still can't stop yearning for any more updates

AU in which Noctis decides Prompto needs a new dad since his parents suck. Unfortunately, despite being The Real Actual Prince, he is still not legally allowed to keep Prompto. Which just means he's got to find one himself!

Nyx Week 2026, Day 5: Off Duty Shennanigans / Music

FFXV characters and what they would do at the summer camp I worked for

Noct:

Lifeguard

Spends all his time off napping in the boathouse

Regularly falls asleep at meals

The despair of his cocounselors because he's always asleep before the kids are

Gets REALLY animated when teaching the kids fishing. They're all like :0 he can talk like that???

SUPER HYPE FOR NIGHT OWL WEEK. LOVES STAYING UP UNTIL SUNRISE AND SLEEPING IN UNTIL 2 PM. TAKES ALL THE NIGHT SWIM SHIFTS

Only problem with night owl week is Prompto is a day jay :(

Regis is camp director but Noct still got vetoed when trying to make his activity block about video games :( Instead it's tying flies for fly fishing

Ignis:

It's tempting to say cook but in my camp cooking was actually a full-time job for adults and I can't see Iggy making this his career

General counselor with an education focus, but absolutely insistent on kids having choice of sauces for cookout day

Absolute wizard at getting a fire going without a firestarter

During staff send off, takes over the kitchen and goes absolutely ham. The official cooks tell him what they're gonna throw out at the end of the week and he makes dinner for everyone. Ofc this makes him everyone's favorite

His cabin wins the "cleanest cabin" and "most environmentally friendly" (lights off, water not dripping, minimum food waste) awards every single week. Everyone else has just stopped trying

Delivers both the "I start fires" and "fire safety" speeches with a completely deadpan expression, even through the shouting parts. The kids would also take it very seriously and miss the humor if the rest of the bros didn't spend the whole time heckling him

Activity block is about native edible plants

Gladio:

Adventures counselor

Has named the pond snapping turtle "Gilgamesh". There is ongoing beef with Gilgamesh due to the kids tipping over their canoes while practicing for the river trip

Kid: Where did you get that scar? :0 Gladio: I-- Noct: He lost a fight with a snapping turtle Gladio: I WON the fight with the snapping turtle

Always running the climbing station at Wednesday free for all. Easily goaded into trying challenging climbs during the climbing trip, but actually pulls them off

Found a knife lying around during an offsite camping trip and cleaned it up and kept it

Cries during send off, without fail

Activity block is about the history of the camp. Kids mostly sign up due to the fact that it's in an air conditioned building, but Gladio actually makes it really engaging

Prompto:

Listen, when your best friend is a camp director's kid and you really need a job and maybe a place to stay for a couple months, working as a dishwasher at a summer camp in the middle of nowhere two hours' drive north of the city sounds like a not super terrible plan? They feed you all but one meal per week, eat as much as you want, who cares if the pay's terrible

Turns out: Prompto loves working at camp

He's great at making kids not feel so self-conscious about camp silliness. Absolutely goes ham in campfire skits

I feel like he'd be great on the guitar

Did one summer as a dishwasher because he didn't have the self-confidence to go for anything more, realized that he could do horses chocobos, practically BEGGED for the chocobo counselor position

Super enthusiastic about being at camp 90% of the time

Surprisingly good at gaga ball for a guy who looks like he was picked last for dodgeball every time

Tries to love Night Owl Week for Noct but he can't. He can't do it. This boy is up at 6 am every day

Activity block is basic photography and he has a collection of blurry pictures of plants/buildings/staff given to him by campers

Iris:

Queen of the crafts camp five years running

Everyone knows she's going to be crafts assistant as soon as she's old enough to work

Loves doing huge, two-inch-wide friendship bracelets

Can and will abuse her little sister powers to stop Gladio on his way to wherever so he can help with something that needs a lot of muscle at the crafts cabin

Originally started doing Night Owl week bc Noct is cute, then got really into integrating glowstick bracelets into bigger jewelry and also kicking ass at flashlight tag

Took one look at the boring twine used to hang staff name tags, said "nah", and made a bunch of multicolored finger woven bands for them

Can ALWAYS find somewhere to anchor her friendship bracelet. ALWAYS

Luna:

Assistant nurse (currently in medical school)

Loves to talk about native plants with medicinal benefits!

Very careful with local wildlife. Super fine about being shown frogs and bugs

Will correct your frog handling technique, Noctis we don't pick frogs up with our bare hands!

Rechecks the pool and boathouse first aid kits more than could possibly be necessary but nobody can tell which of the lifeguards she's visiting

Ravus:

Office staff

Has nothing to do with the kids until the inevitable surprise allergic reaction

Has all the back roads between camp and the hospital memorized, down to places to put speed traps. Can average 70mph with an uncovered mug of coffee sitting in the passenger seat and not spill a drop (this is a real guy I worked with)

During the yearly medical emergency, Luna just bangs the nurse's cabin door open and yells RAVUS at the top of her lungs and he's already in his car

Crowe:

Lifeguard

Unlike Noct, chooses her lifeguard uniforms based on what makes Luna go 👀

Once woke up Noct mid-nap to demand to know Regis's opinions on queer people. "Dad's bi. Leave me alone" and put a towel over his face

It wasn't even his towel it was Crowe's

Tank tops, short shorts, and flip flops IMMEDIATELY after send off

Activity block is outdoor survival

Libertus:

General counselor

Smuggled spices to cookout day until Iggy campaigned for a variety of sauces

Longstanding beef with the cook (Yamachang)

Mud walking KING. Spends half of each year praying for rainstorms so he can take kids mud walking

When he tried to hug Crowe while covered in mud she threw them both in the pool and they both got chewed out by maintenance

Technically his activity block is about Galahdian traditions, but since he takes every possible opportunity to run mud walking it almost never happens

Nyx:

Adventure director

AGGRESSIVELY cautious about belay safety, as is only right and proper

Makes adventure counselors go through belay safety training every. single. year without exception

Definitely is the guy who made up the "kiss the carabiner" tradition at the climbing station

"Look it sounds like a fun job but I spend a lot of time disinfecting sweaty climbing shoes"

Once made Ravus drive him to the hardware store to get a new ladder and rope rather than disappoint kids who wanted to zip line

His, Libertus, and Crowe's antics with the staff mail got packages banned for like two straight weeks, and they had to clean the sand out of the staff lounge
