The way she slinks outside the scene should
recall the one of a ballerina, fluid and graceful,
while in reality the transparent gem’s one seems
the lone wolf escaping from a sheeps herd well
guarded. It’s nothing similar to Garnet’s escape,
full of worry and care. It will never be like that.
Pearl abandons the solitary room alone, in perfect
silence, and with an expression of deep distress
on her features.
Like a thief, like air winding through the room slowly,
the servant gem makes her way to the table, not
speaking a word.
Garnet got her revenge; she made Pearl feel like she
was nothing with so simple moves – Made her regret
what happened terribly. Sardonyx is just a proof of her
true nature, the will to get ordered around… to feel stronger.
The stress that followed that day was terrible, and
Pearl was about to snap. Cue, her strategical retreating
in her own gem, which she acts at night.
Steven is sleeping – everything is quiet, calm and peaceful
just as Pearl desired. For a moment, she finds herself at
a loss for words. Is that what she really needs?
To stay away from everything and everyone, recluding
herself in her gem to spare others the pain of seeying
her like this?
Garnet told her – she was about sick of her attitude, and
certantly the gem didn’t wanted to make her mad again.
And if there’s a thing they both know is that Pearl may be
selfish, but Garnet never knows when to stop.
The solution is simple, but effective.
With the darkness favoring her, the servant finally retreats
into her gem without a goodbye, without an apology. The
next morning, her gems will find a Pearl on the table, left alone
by everyone and solitary where she stands.
As it should be, as a defective pearl should turn out.
