Driving, sitting at a desk (or even sitting on the couch) and activities like bike riding, hiking or working out in the gym can all leave us a little "tight" in the hip flexor area. Our bodies become sore, achy, stiff and feel tight with the constant demand & the repetitive stress motions we put on these muscles, tendons & ligaments. Dynamic (active) yoga stretches before & static (holding) stretches after an activity can really help to prepare our bodies & smooth things out after. Here I am holding a static stretch in a low lunge position - Anjanayasana- I'm working toward getting my back leg (quadricep area) closer toward the ground. This helps to gently add a little stretch to the hip flexor area. Find YOUR edge & then hold still for a while! Once you begin feeling a little tension (pulling) in the front of the hip/top of the thigh, just hold still and breath into the stretch. Avoid pushing to go deeper, going to deep to soon could do you more harm than good, you don't want to tear anything, so just ease into the stretch and allow your body to tell you when enough is enough. Remember to stretch out both sides to even things out!! #yoga #stretch #yogastretch #lowlunge #anjanayasana #hipflexorstretch #hipflexors #breathe #staticstretching #fit #fitness #fitfam #cooldowntime #yogaeveryday #healthylifestyle #healthy #health #selfcare #yvonnekellyfitness
