I've been thinking for a while about how insidious it is that cop shows or shows with cop characters write them in a way that make you sympathize with policing and I think the way all these people are getting on with "x cop character would never" rn really proves just how fucking disgusting that is.
Its ironic and definitely intentionally mitigating propaganda how some of the only 'decent' men (as in they are not abusive angry toxic men) characters I see on tv are cops when in reality toxic masculinity and violence is pervasive in policing (e.g. any of the B99 men, William Murdoch, Benton Fraser, etc). Or that they make bipoc and queer cop characters to try to be "progressive" when cops over police bipoc and queer communities and overwhelmingly target them with violence (e.g. rosa diaz, raymond holt, terry jeffords). Its disgusting and its even more disgusting to see its pervasiveness right now with what's going on with cops just unleashing mass violence on citizens across turtle island because of police brutality against Black people
All that to say shut the FUCK UP about how your favourite fictional cop wouldn't be participating in what's happening right now, because first of all they're fictional and who gives a fuck when real cops are, and second they absolutely would, or else they wouldnt be cops
