The Copper System
The Copper System given the name due to the large ringed planet going around its star with its unique way of having 10 planets surrounding it that earned the names Copper-1, Copper-2, etc… this gas giant serving as a means of light though not powerful enough to let off any radiation that would prove to be harmless to the planets around it.
The Copper System was found by JCJenson and was immediately closed off at the request of JCJenson years before the scrap order for Worker Drones. It is put as having 10 planets with Copper-9 serving as a mining planet though no shipments from Copper-9 have ever been recorded yet supplies of heavy machinery and experimental tech where sent to Copper-9. JCJenson has refused to give a proper answer on why this is the case but have assured everyone that the Solver menace will be dealt with.
NO4 Drones
Started working on designing my own drone type...mainly because I am a tall bish (6'1/185cm) and didn't want to be a disassembly drone. So say hello to the Nordic Operations Version 4s, taller drones that are infinitely extensible, and some can break out of their restrictions and self-modify their systems, allowing them to adapt to what's needed should they be under immense pressure.
Nordic Drones are also a little more hardy than standard worker drones, especially when it comes to extreme conditions. But the primary difference is height, they are around 5'7/170cm tall. Assuming WDs are 5'2/157cm and DDs are 5'10/177cm then they would be just a little shorter than DDs, although most of their height is in their legs, letting them run fairly fast and absorb more fall impact than WDs. Still figuring out the rest of the logistics for NO4s but in due time, for now though, it's like 1AM and I have work, so maybe I will post again tomorrow. TTYL - Astralis (Also yes I suck at doing legs...I'm trying tho)
Man I am so glad we got transferred to Copper-9 a month ago right?
*alchemist cookie and red velvet cookie have been teleported to copper-9! Yippee!*
background attempt
“Is it really a transplant when we’re robots?”—Nurse Stain
[We know there were kids on Copper-9 due to Uzi’s dress being on a small skeleton. Entire buildings had been built there suggesting it wasn’t just a mining operation but a colony. Running with that logic here’s my OC.]
———————————————————————
Before was… much much simpler. All they had to do was watch over Marc–rk, Mark and Quinn. (No. He’s only ever Marcus if in trouble.)
They don’t have many memories of working in the mines before being reassigned. It was hard adjusting to looking after two young humans which only got harder. Always full of energy, always so rowdy was Mark. He was the older brother by three years who hated slowing down for his younger sibling. Quinn had been his polar opposite as skittish and quiet as a rabbit.
Being a robot around such young humans had less than stellar results. Quinn was so scared of them in the beginning while Mark took every moment to poke and prod. The worker drone’s days were spent cleaning up different messes. “Stain” came from their clothes usually being, well, stained at the end of after every day. So many challenges came from not having the emotional(?) intelligence to comfort toddlers.
The brothers’ parents often questioned why they even took the time to repurpose Stain if the drone had to call them multiple times. No one with a sense of smell enjoyed cleaning up “accidents”. Quinn eventually learned to trust the weird metal person looking after him and his brother every day. Reading to the sensitive boy worked wonders as Stain found out. Mark made up for his less stressful brother. How did a five-year-old climb up onto the ceiling vents?
Both boys’ personalities grew as they got older—Quinn became immersed in old millennia books. Mostly fairy tales, horror classics, but never anything too long. Even the younger teen had limited patience for longer stories like the Odyssey. Mark loved action-packed games.
Alien Isolation, Dead Space, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Far Cry, Bioshock, etc... Stain saw their relationship improve when they got older both finding a liking for older classics. How on the planet they could stand the sudden scares they never knew... Eventually, the worker drone became a sorta nurse to the boys. Venturing beyond the city limits for thrills outside home.
Why the two decided a worker drone was better to patch them up, Stain never knew. A machine like themself could never fully understand what being hurt was like. Shocks from maintenance were the closest they might liken it to. Humans bruised easily. Something as simple as them holding up the boys would leave a mark on the skin. Did little girls end up in this much trouble?
Despite them being assigned to look over the brothers, Quinn convinced them not to notify the parents about their explorations. (Their humans were far happier exploring together than being stuck inside. Online classes were taken from the computer, food was delivered near the front door, and no kids their age.)
Until Mark had to be carried back with a broken arm which they couldn’t simply fix. Nurse Stain diagnosed his arm as being away above their capability. The parents were called right there.
Stain had heard family arguments before. The brothers expressed displeasure over having a worker drone raise them instead of the parents. Who they rarely saw even once a week. It was not said worker drone’s right to judge but still, the boys missed them. Far too busy or not. An odd spectrum of feelings came over them when the boys likened them to family more than either parent had been. Twelve years was quite a long time for kids—never mind teenagers.
Mark was grounded for an entire month while his brother had his books banned. Rather harsh including the parents reprogramming Stain to listen to them first. No more expeditions ever.
And then.
An alarm rang out while they were comforting the boys.
There was a tremor followed by a sudden flash.
Moving to cover their humans was the last the worker drone saw of them.
End of before/Pt. 1
—Yeah. There’s not really much of Stain’s personality in this one. Just overcoming some challenges I feel an early Worker Drone would face when in a position not programmed for. I feel like Copper-9 has a lot of potential in how other characters deal with the core explosion.
—Stain will not be totally-pro human. But a little more neutral since they raised two themself.
