Is the difference between voluntary and involuntary labels needed?

The fact that we are a system causes us to have fluid identities while dissociating or co-fronting/co-concious. Some of us just experience fluidity but not caused by plurality. Not only altertypes but also level of voluntarity. We just choose one label we are most comfortable with or just use label we feel most comfortable in that moment.
Around 3 years ago we felt like we needed to fit into one box: voluntary, involuntary or half voluntary. It made us very anxious because we didn't want to be a "faker". Two years ago (probably) we met one being that showed us a better side of alterhuman community (forever thankful to them). And as time went by, we were more accepting of that fluidity.
As we started to do even deeper research on alterhuman community we discovered that copyinglink (it got replaced by otherlink) was coined around 2015. So beings before that probably just called themselves otherkins (or other existing labels). Correct us if we are wrong tho.
So why we need it? (Except for personal preferences) We are all non-humans or fictional humans after all. It never really made sense to us honestly but we always add to definitions "voluntary/involuntary" because it is just the meaning now.
We feel like making difference just causes unfair treatment for otherlinks because "their identity is less valid because they have chosen it".
