I built myself a quick and dirty #DIY #DSLR based #35mm #filmscanner using stuff that I had around the house. The camera is mounted on a #copyingstand that I had made 3 years ago to copy my daughter's art for her portfolio. The film slides in a 35 mm carrier from an old flatbed scanner, that is mounted on a cardboard box and is illuminated from the rear by strip #LEDs for focusing purposes. The lens is a #50mmf1.8 mounted on a 21 mm #extensionring. The flash pokes through the box and is connected to the camera via an off the camera cord. I did some test shots using the LED light itself and used #GIMP to invert the negative and adjust the white balance. So far so good. I have over 7500 images in negatives that I shot from the early 90's till I got my first digital camera in '04. If I take to a lab, I would need over $2000 for the conversion. Now all I've got to do is to find a way to batch convert the negatives to positive..... #diyordie #photographyhacks #geekstuff (at Bramalea, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnoGuJxls6j/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1mh1j8gzfzn5i
