This piece got me through exam season.
Every time I listened to it, I ended up crying. At first I wasn’t sure if it was just because of all the studying I had to do, or if it was because of the absolutely beautiful English horn solo.
Today, I listened to it again and bawled my eyes out.

til the cor anglais (the iconic tenor oboe with the egg-shaped bell) is nothing to do with "English" (in the US it's known as the English horn) - it was originally known as the "angelic horn" which in 18th c. French was cor anglois, and made its way to Germany where the confusion worsened, because in 18th c. High German, Engellisch meant both angelic and English
