on multiple occasions, coran has cried himself to sleep because he misses his bandmates that he used to play monsters and mana with, who were killed by zarkon when altea was destroyed. 

he couldn’t bring himself to play monsters and mana the first few months after he was unfrozen because the memories of his dead friends were too strong.
