Corban Addison is an author I keep returning to, because he continues to write about the issues that I care about. In Harvest of Thorns, Addison takes a close look at labor trafficking & exploitation in the garment industry. Following international tragedies like the collapse of the Rana Factory in Bangladesh in 2013, this story also begins in Bangladesh with a factory collapse. Many people are killed, including children. It’s a worldwide disaster. A massive fictional US company is horrified to realize their clothing was being made in the factory, and the company lawyer begins to discover how this came to be. The story has two timelines a few years apart, and readers quickly realize that the lawyer must not have fully solved the problem, as now a journalist is on the story. And it’s a bigger story than we realize as well, originating in Bangladesh, but moving from Malaysia to even Jordan. Back and forth, from the lawyer to the journalist, we see the story unfold and learn how labor trafficking can happen at various levels of the supply chain. Harvest of Thorns is educational and entertaining, the best kind of book! I can’t wait to read what Corban Addison releases next!

I received this book from Family Christian to review. I really wanted to like the book, but I actually didn’t like it at all. I didn’t believe it was a true Christian Fiction book.
