Dear Vector Prime, In the marvel UK comics, Galvatron suffers a very gruesome death via a time rift. In the panels it shows every piece of him being stripped off until there is nothing but a skeleton. Do cybertronians really have skeletons? If so what purpose does it serve your kind?
Yes we do, although they are usually given technical terms such as "Core Body" or "Trans-Skeleton." They are in many respects just like organic endoskeletons, and serve much the same purpose.
The Core Body is a collection of rigid metallic struts, pylons, chambers, vaults, and other components, designed to support the exostructure and armor-plating of the Cybertronian, as well as to protect important components such as spark chambers, brain modules, and boron compressors.
The most well-known parts of the Core Body include the cranial chamber (which protects the brain module and memory core), the backbone infrastructure or backstrut, and the heel struts that help support the body's weight. While usually heel struts are concealed within the exo-armour, it has become a fashion for some bots to adopt designs that leave them on display. I admit there are times where I find fashion beyond me, and this is one of those times.
All that said, there are exceptions to every rule. One subset of Cybertronians are miraculously composed of divine energy given substance; their bodies are known as spark figures, or Digital Entity Frames, and although they resemble other Cybertronians, their bodies are temporary constructs of their spark, able to be altered far more easily than most. Such a Cybertronian is even able to rarify their existence, merging their essence with another. Others have also managed to take advantage of this to reforge them into their own image, using Recreators and Fixer Bugs.
