Ballad covey headcannons- 🤭?-

I will be so honest, I don't have much. I love the idea that Primrose was named as a nod to one of Burdock's Covey family members (in spirit or genetic, idk) (since there are undoubtedly some unnamed or '"ex-Covey") but idk if I have any about specifically Ballad-era Covey.

Ummm...

I freaking love the idea that it was a Covey-led force that killed Crassus Snow (unrelated to the Rebellion, he just FAFO and they stood on business or something) and that they sang over his dying body bc...they would. (if we don't go for the HC I have that he died in D13 but part of the 'treaty' for them to back out of the war w/o a trace was that they didn't cop any blame, thus a lie about D12 was made)

Other than that...

um....

The Covey, specifically Maude Ivory who was basically raised by Lucy Gray, really held out to the hope that LG and Coriolanus truly ran away together, happily ever after for decades. And then Snow starts to appear in campaigns for Capitol office (that I HC the Capitol always airs for the Districts but they never get to vote on). Lucy Gray is never shown. Still, MI holds out hope and her family can't wreck it for her.

Even when Snow is 'elected' (who knows if that was genuine or not but, either way, it was a Capitol-only choice regardless), Maude Ivory holds out hope that Lucy Gray just didn't want to be in the spotlight, despite her now growing better judgment. It isn't until he's sworn in (or however they do it) and he presents his wife and their already 2 children that she knows for sure. It fucking wrecks her.

Legit had to think on this for like an entire night bc I didn't quite know what *unhinged* you wanted but I guess we'll go with this one:

President Snow is asexual. Not in a genuine or trauma-based way, either. In a 'I'm too good for you and sex is beneath me,' way. He only ever has sex with his wife on the day that she's most fertile (and may have killed his first wife bc, as it turns out, he wasn't as fertile as he thought but he's gonna blame her for that, ofc), genuinely gaslights himself into thinking he doesn't need to jork it, and finds sex generally 'pathetic.'

That being said, he gets off in a very pseudo-sexual way to other people's discomfort. I hc very adamantly that he has NEVER raped a Victor (he thinks he's too good for them or the act itself) but we know he's not above organizing it let alone watching.

Along with this, I have a headcanon that there are still a few rebuilding countries way far away/outside of Panem that occasionally try to send drones/surveillance over Panem's airways that Snow always shoots down. But bc he's him, he always makes it an event. He invites a few ministers of war (never 'pleb' Capitolites, only actual govt officials), 'hires' a few prostitutes (always avoxes so they can't share what they saw), and hosts a watch party with bets, dares, and general debauchery to celebrate each time another country tries to get info on Panem. He never partakes in the 'prostitutes' (using that term very generously) but he's a sucker for a show. And if there's even a whisper of gossip about these nights (even if outside countries aren't mentioned) he kills whichever minister tattled like immediately.
