Okay, but actually, since my HC of Panem's timeline sees the US dissolving (along w/ like all of the known world) in the late 1940s...they've never been to space. I think MAYBE another recovered country might have done it (after all, Panem is not communicating outside of its borders so who knows??) but definitely not Panem. And I don't think they would even broach the topic bc it not only opens up a can of worms/questions about what's outside of Panem but also...they don't wanna.

Now post Second Rebellion? I could definitely see them trying to get to space. Especially after maybe making connection w/ outside countries for the first time since WW2/when the USA was a thing and finding out maybe other countries are trying/have tried.

Ballad covey headcannons- 🤭?-

I will be so honest, I don't have much. I love the idea that Primrose was named as a nod to one of Burdock's Covey family members (in spirit or genetic, idk) (since there are undoubtedly some unnamed or '"ex-Covey") but idk if I have any about specifically Ballad-era Covey.

Ummm...

I freaking love the idea that it was a Covey-led force that killed Crassus Snow (unrelated to the Rebellion, he just FAFO and they stood on business or something) and that they sang over his dying body bc...they would. (if we don't go for the HC I have that he died in D13 but part of the 'treaty' for them to back out of the war w/o a trace was that they didn't cop any blame, thus a lie about D12 was made)

Other than that...

um....

The Covey, specifically Maude Ivory who was basically raised by Lucy Gray, really held out to the hope that LG and Coriolanus truly ran away together, happily ever after for decades. And then Snow starts to appear in campaigns for Capitol office (that I HC the Capitol always airs for the Districts but they never get to vote on). Lucy Gray is never shown. Still, MI holds out hope and her family can't wreck it for her.

Even when Snow is 'elected' (who knows if that was genuine or not but, either way, it was a Capitol-only choice regardless), Maude Ivory holds out hope that Lucy Gray just didn't want to be in the spotlight, despite her now growing better judgment. It isn't until he's sworn in (or however they do it) and he presents his wife and their already 2 children that she knows for sure. It fucking wrecks her.
