Greetings, today's #gameoftheday is one that I've covered previously and that's RollerCoaster Tycoon for Windows PCs. Released in 1999, this is the Gold Edition which was released a couple years later and includes the base game and the two expansion packs, Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes. As I've stated before I have covered this game previously, but it was the subpar version for the original Xbox. This is the true way to play, and that's coming from someone who's mostly a console gamer. The game is a theme park management business simulator that lets you design and manage your own theme park and build various rollercoasters and other assorted theme park attractions like Ferris Wheels, Chair lifts, Swinging ships, and also park amenities like snack stands, bathrooms, and other assorted eateries. The two expansion packs that come in this set add more theme park scenarios and more items to play with but you must earn them by playing certain scenarios. Playing this in its true form really got me to understand the game better. Honestly when I played the Xbox version, I didn't get very far on it because I was constantly fighting the clunky UI and also sim games like this making the leap to a console or vice versa doesn't always translate well. One of my major gripes with this game in general is that there is no sandbox mode where you can just build all the crazy roller coaster designs you want without limits. Seriously, when I try to make my own custom track I'm often restrained by something like running out of money and I have to start over, which is why I often just plop down pre-made designs instead.
