So maybe they messed up a little. They were kids, though, that was expected. Except... fucking up in this line of work tended to lead to an early death. Sixteen was way, way too early to die. They at least wanted to be legal before they bit it.
The job they took was intended for Scorpio; they got the message and never relayed it to their red haired teacher -- why bother her with such a silly thing when they could do it? So they gathered their weapons, all blades and knives for Ini and guns and bullets for Gem, and set off.
They realized very, very quickly why it was meant for Scorpio.
The target was a member of the Red Room, whatever the fuck that was, but he was like, 90 years old. Really, it should have been as easy as going in, unplugging his life support, and bouncing before they were seen. In reality, though it turned into a shit show very, very quickly.
Apparently the Red Room had great retirement benefits, like swarms of armed guards and dogs that were totally not adorable like Aries. They were really, hilariously, repulsively unprepared for this.
"No, no fuck that!" Right now the twins were huddled in a dank little cave, but they could hear those fucking dogs and those Russian soldiers looking for them. "She'll kill us more painfully than they will."
"Then Falcon!" Gem hissed, her hand pressing to her arm. A through-and-through, nothing terribly bad but it hurt like hell and made her voice waver.
"No, fuck that he'll be on Scor's side!" Ini busied herself by checking Gem's injury over, her own voice faltering. She reached for the phone as Gem pulled it out. "No, they'll both slaughter us!"
"I know, I know, trust me." She scrolled through the names listed, trying to find one. Cancer wouldn't help them, Libra was out, Taurus was too goddamn scary. Leo. She hit dial and held the phone up to her ear. Ini pressed close so she could hear.
It rang several times before it was picked up.
"Hey, kitty cat!" She forced cheer into her voice while trying to remain somewhat quiet, but it sounded more on the manic side than chipper. "Funny thing happened. How, ah.. busy are you right now?"
