So maybe this living together thing made her panic.

And maybe in her panic she disappeared. For two months.

And maybe she just took her favorite gun and a couple grand, leaving everything (including her phone) behind. 

So what? 

People make mistakes. Scorpio was damn skilled at making mistakes. She stood at the foot of the steps to the small cabin in the middle of nowhere, Alaska, wondering if she should knock or just turn around and disappear for another two months. 

She decided on knocking, hoping that maybe, just maybe, this could still be her home.

Scorpio Natasha stared down at Virgo Falcon Clint The Murderer. She had found them, their the girls dead, curled around each other, in the cold of the forest. Hunted like animals. Put down without mercy. 

By their own father. 

The Murderer didn’t offer a response to her words, he was sitting in the armchair of the once welcoming cabin, head bowed, hands clutched at either side, fisted in his hair.

His remorse meant nothing to her.

"They trusted you." 

He shrunk into himself, and she heard something like a choked sob. 

His pain meant nothing to her. 

"They loved you." 

He shuddered and there was a proper sob, their names. Gem. Ini. Spilled from his traitorous lips. He looked up at Natasha, eyes rimmed with red, blue more natural than they had been when he committed those atrocities. 

She couldn’t absolve him twice.

She put the gun against his head, and his hands, trembling, cupped hers holding the weapon, keeping her there so she couldn’t pull away. “Please, Scor…” he whispered, hoarse. 

"This isn’t for your benefit." She said to The Murderer, thumb pulling back the hammer with a click. "I’m just putting down a dangerous animal." 

Her finger squeezed the trigger and the gunshot cracked, The Murderer Clint Falcon Virgo fell back and slumped to the side. Lifeless. 

Natasha's Scorpio's family was gone. Her girls. Her Virgo. Gone. She had lied before when she said she didn’t care why, but she didn’t think she could handle his reason. Now she never would.

"…For what it’s worth, I’m glad it’s you." 

The smile felt bitter on her lips, but it really wasn’t. Maybe it was the blood on her tongue that was bitter. The barrel of the gun was hot against her head, and.. she was ok with that. If she had to die at someone’s hands, it would be Virgo’s. Clint’s. 

"Do me a favor?"

Her voice caught, as much as she loathe to admit it. Her eyes closed and she fought back the surge of emotion. She could meet her death with poise, with composure. “Don’t tell the girls you did it. I don’t want… they need you. Don’t let me get in the way of that.” 

A shaky breath and she nodded, showing she was ready. “I love y—” Her sentence wasn’t finished, the bullet embedding itself in her skull made sure of that. Her body collapsed, the crimson of her blood and the ruby of her hair spilling out.

Nothing was as merciful as dying by the hands of the man, the men? she loved.
