Healing Hands

Summary: Corlette explains what her elemental power of mending can do, as Lloyd, Arin, Sora, and Riyu discover that the village they are in may need more help than they realize.

“I believe it is elemental power… I’ve been calling it Mending.”

With Corlette standing in front of him, he can finally take in her appearance.

Her hair is thick, and she has very long, pointed ears! Duel colors with the pieces that frame her face and rest on her shoulders, a spring dim green. The rest of her hair, including her bangs, is a darker willow green color. An old scar stretched across her nose, with freckles peppering both her face and her exposed shoulders. Acid/yellowish green fold-over sweater with a slightly darker colored skirt atop a sleeveless turtleneck and short combo. A gold pendant hanging around her neck with Morning Glories engraved on the locket.

Her caramel colored eyes look at him with a little twinkle as she reveals what she believes is an elemental power.

“Mending?” Lloyd asks.

Corlette nods, “I’m able to repair broken bones and heal open wounds, no non-organic materials, and I cannot do anything about illness or disease.”

“That is incredibly useful,” Arin mutters.

“We could have used you a long time ago!” Sora remarks, “You have healing hands, for real!”

Corlette let’s out a small giggle, “The old ladies around here say that often!”

“All this used to be in Ninjago right?” Lloyd asks, gesturing to the buildings with their style of architecture, which he is very familiar with.

Corlette nods once again, “That’s what everyone around here says,” she replies, “You all want to look around. Granted it’s not much.”

“Can we Lloyd?” Arin asks.

“I kinda wanna see were their magic happens,” Sora mutters.

Corlette giggles, “We don’t interfere,” Lloyd retorts.

“ A quick trip to see the clinic isn't going to problem,” Corlette notes with a smile.

Lloyd gestures forward, “Lead the way.”

The three of them and Riyu follow Corlette through rough stone streets to a fairly decent-sized building with a small flower bed filled with flowers in various colors. They look like some kind of lily under a stained-glass window with a vine design in the panes.

The inside smells clean, very much smells like disinfectant with a hint of eucalyptus. Herbs and medicines neatly put away in a large cabinet behind the check in counter face a tiny sitting area in front of the stain-glass window. A small medical bay with four beds beyond an archway, and an exam room next to a flight of stairs.

"You can't be running this all by yourself," Lloyd mutters in amazement.

"I do not!" Corlette replies, "There is a doctor, an actual doctor who has taught me the things I know, his name is Shepard."

"Where is he?"

"I don't know," She sighs, "He went to get supplies, it's usually a week long trip. He's been gone for almost three months."

"You think something happened to him?" Sora asks.

"It's very possible," Corlette answers, "I hope not. I hope he just is helping people along the way, and he's just gotten sidetracked."

"When we head back to the monastery we'll keep a look out for him," Lloyd mentions.

Corlette smiles, "Thank you."

Lloyd opens his mouth to speak, probably a stupid get to know you question, however the door to the clinic slams open, a young village man pant in the doorway. "Corlette someone through bottles over the gate some of them were on fire—"

"Holy shit!" Sora gasps, before Corlette runs out of the clinic and the ninja follow her.

A small fire on a pile of empty crates at the base of the village gate, with a men and women attempting to put it out it and a guardsman holding his bloody temple.

"Where's Nya when you need her?" Sora mutters helping village people fill buckets of water.

Once the fire is put out Corlette uses her "magic healing hands" to aid the wounded man, "Why do the bandits continue attack this village," Arin asks.

Corlette sighs, "I don't know. The reason I can come up with is that it's because of the spring in the cave."

"Spring in the cave?"

Corlette points toward a dirt path, "Down that path is a cave, inside there is a spring that many people outside this village say has some kind of special properties," they explain.

"I remember hearing a story like that when I was little," Lloyd comments before he chuckles, "I remember telling Pixal about it once, she said that it is probably just a normal hot spring and the people around here where not familiar with geothermal heating."

"I think tales are of a woman with healing hands and myth about a special spring for getting confused for the same story," Corlette mutters with a sigh.

"Lloyd," Arin whispers grabbing his teacher's attention, "Remember when we helped the Seaweed Farmers."

The green ninja nods, "What if we did that here?"

"Arin that's a lot of people," Lloyd replies.

"But he has a point," Sora chimes in quietly, "It looks like they have a few people to protect them, and Corlette, who they probably turn to when they have a simple paper cut."

"And that's made her exhausted," Arin adds as the three of them watch Corlette finish healing the open wound, "The least we could do is stay and help for a little while."

"We could send Riyu back to the Monastery have the other's look for the doctor, maybe even find a new one to help," Sora comments.

Lloyd thinks for a moment, watching Corlette finish up with the guardsman, "Alright," he sighs causing Arin and Sora to high five and to Riyu to explain his task to him, "Hey Corlette?"

"Yes, Lloyd?" She's looks far more tired then just maybe an hour, rubbing and rolling her neck in such a way so it would pop.

"What if we helped with a bandit problem?"

"I doubt you would kill them out right," she mutters, "I have heard far to many stories of about you all and what you do."

"No, murder is something we don't typically do. But! We can train the guardsmen to be better than they are, I can have the rest of my team look for the missing doctor," Lloyd explains, "Teach me medicine if you have to, I think I'm a quick learner. I will do anything you ask, we want to help you and the people here! "

Corlette lets out a tiny giggle, "That would be very helpful, just having an extra hand in the clinic for just an hour each day will be better than nothing."

"I'll be as helpful as I can be," he replies.

"Then I will really get to test how quick of a learner you truly are," Corlette teases. "You all no doubt have supplies and vehicles outside the gate, tell the guard what's going on, and I will make room for the four of you."

"Riyu isn't staying, we're sending him back so he can tell the others back at the monastery that your doctor is missing."

The master of mending goes over to Riyu flashing him a smile, "Hey bud, you want a description of Doctor Shep?" Riyu nods. Corlette goes on to describe a man in his 50's with vitiligo and dreadlocks covered in tattoos and often wearing a monocle. "— He's a friendly guy, if you get the chance to met him."

Riyu nods once before Corlette cups his face giving him a few pets, "Your just a little guy," she mutters with a giggle, "Be careful, yeah?"

Riyu let's out a happy noise before saying goodbye to Lloyd, Arin, and Sora. "I'll see you all back that the clinic," Corlette says with a smile.

"Thanks for letting us stay," Arin chirps.

"I can't say it will be the best place you stay—"

"Better than sleeping outside!" Sora remarks.

"Last time we had to camp outside you said you liked sleeping under the stars," Lloyd retorts, "at least that's what I heard you tell Frac!"

"He kept complaining about how dark it was!" Sora responds.

Arin laughs, following Lloyd and Sora to the village gate, "Be careful," Corlette calls as they leave.

BACK IN TIME: LADY GAGA APPEARS ON THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW IN SORCHA O’RAGHALLAIGH

When Lady Gaga visited Graham Norton in 2013, she opted for designs by Louis Vuitton and Gareth Pugh. So let’s find out what she wore during her first visit back in 2011! If you haven’t seen her chat with Gordon, watch here. Absolutely hilarious!

I’ve got some fiery info of Gaga’s Graham Norton Show wedding dress young Irish designer Sorcha O’Raghallaigh crafted for her. I love, love, looove. 

Her headpiece is “a crown made of gold spikes with flower and shredded fabric details, and crystal crucifix with veil draping from the top of the cross”. The second part of the outfit is “medieval style dress, made of gold chiffon and a mixture of gold lace. With flower and shredded chiffon details on the sleeve”.The look was completed with “studded choker with gems, crystals and beads encrusted heart and cross pendants. With gold metal spike rays around the circumference of the heart and multicoloured rectangular crystals from the choker studded neck to the heart and crucifix pieces”.

She wore it with the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2010 Surpiqué wired bra with detachable shoulder pads. Her fishnet tights are by Jonathan Aston.

The black suede alien platform pumps with curved heel and ankle lacing are from Mugler’s Fall/Winter 2011 “Anatomy of Change” collection.

For her epic “Judas” performance, Gaga changed to another one-of-a-kind costume. Red semi-sheer velvet animal appliqué catsuit and matching veil both by her personal costume designer Perry Meek layered with black Leather Love Lock body featuring crosses and golden heart-shaped padlocks Alex Noble custom-made for her.

Her heart sunglasses were hand made in solid 14K gold by Jack’s Eyewear. 

The black leather military inspired arm cuffs with brass gold button studs and gold cord belong to one of the five Corlette Fall/Winter 2011 capsule collections – the block color black “Garde à Toi”.

Each of the five capsule collections showcases different design aspects and techniques, whilst all blending luxurious leather with interesting and distinctive detailing and finishes. “Garde à Toi” range reveals military-inspired designs.

Her black leather belt with golden Medusa sunray buckle and smaller Medusa heads all around is a vintage Versace gem.

She completed her look with a customized version of the black vinyl lace-up ankle pointed toes Pleaser Seduce-1020 boots.

For “Born This Way”, both Gaga and her dancers wore custom Mugler x Perry Meek latex costumes. 

Her outfit comprised a crop top with crystal-trimmed triangle cut-out detail and thigh-high slit skirt.

All of the harnesses for the dancers were custom-made by Assaad Awad and the distressed costumes by Ayumi Shibata for SLOW.

The crystal-embellished sculpted python skin shoulder harness with Swarovski crystals was handcrafted by Fyodor Golan.

For those who don’t know the label, Fyodor Podgorny is half Latvian, half Russian and Golan Frydman is Israeli with Moroccan and German roots. They studied at the prestigious Istituto Marangoni and the distingueshed Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp respectively. The label was launched with the LFW debut catwalk show for their Fall/Winter 2011 “Pagan Poetry” collection.

Fyodor Golan are very excited to work with Gaga: “She is an inspirational artist and from the beginning it was very easy to understand each other. We design for a strong, individual woman and Gaga embodies this. Religious iconography provided the inspiration for the collaboration, designing for a woman that was chosen in her glory to lead and be admired. We wanted to portray a medieval queen: dark, beautiful and mysterious, a seductress rich in details and symbolism. The shoulder harness, produced in python skin and embellished with over a thousand black Swarovski crystals, evokes the appearance of a shimmering armour or second skin.”

Summary: While traveling across the merged lands, Lloyd, Arin, Sora, and Riyu enter an altercation at the gates of a small village in the mountains that has a rather high population of children. In the heat of battle, a doctor, of sorts, joins the fray with an elemental power to heal injuries.

My Post about Corlette is here! 💚💐🪴 Timeline-wise I'm putting this in season 4 part 1 of Dragons Rising, because I would like to play around with Lloyd's character post all the Whispering Woods stuff. Got any questions about Corlette or the fic in general, send them my way! 💚

Since Lloyd participated the Rite of Unrooting, things have been different. Getting used to the sensations and the way his body feels has been a bit of a challenge, however the world is not going to take a break from needing him and the other ninja just because he has gotten yet another special title.

Surveying an area of land that Kai and Wyldfyre had gotten into an altercation a few days before, Lloyd can recognize that the mountain was once just a part of Ninjago, while also being full of enough scorch marks, making it very obvious that Kai and Wyldfyre had, in fact, been there.

“So what do we do now?” Sora asks, kicking a burned patch of glass, “It doesn’t seem like whoever Kai and Wyldfyre ran into is no longer here.”

“We should go a bit far see if the group they fought is camped out some—” Lloyd stops mid-sentence, his ears twitch slightly. It sounds like someone screamed nearby.

“What is it Lloyd?” Arin asks.

“I thought… I thought heard someone scream?” he answers.

“Huh?” Sora and Arin exhale.

“I didn’t hear anything,” Sora remarks.

“Could it from the Rite of Unrooting?” Arin poses.

Lloyd squints, looking off into the distance as if that would help him hear any better, “Maybe?”

Sora, Arin, and Riyu watch Lloyd for a moment as he stands still looking out into the horizon, attempting to hear the scream he thinks he heard moments ago.

“Uh Lloyd we didn’t hear anything… maybe it was just the wind or a wild animal,” Sora comments.

Arin opens his mouth, most likely to agree with Sora, before all four of them hear a scream from what sounded like a child. “Okay, I heard that,” Arin mutters, following his teacher with Sora and Riyu as Lloyd runs toward the screams.

The screaming is coming from a group of children no older than seven in front of the village gates, as villagers with rudimentary weapons fight off bandits. Five bandits, two villagers trying to keep them safe, four children, and two individuals attempting to get the large gates open.

Despite his earlier teachings, his feet move faster than his brain. Years of being a ninja pay off in moments like these; it’s all muscle memory. Well, it’s muscle memory until he has flashes of green in his vision.

It’s in the corner of his eyes, acid and yellow-toned greens that are not a normal part of the many shades of green that are in his everyday life, nothing quite like Frak’s green that accents his suit and well himself. He attempts not to worry about the color green that he keeps seeing. There are children, traumatized children, and adult villagers that need him.

Arin and Riyu do a very nice job pushing back the bandits so Lloyd and Sora can work on getting the children and other individuals inside. The green ninja carries a young boy with a broken leg. The boy sobs as Lloyd sets him atop a very large shipping cart to assess his injury.

“Where Zane when you need him,” he mutters as the boy continues to cry, “Hey, hey Kiddo! It’s alright, It’s going to be alright!”

“What do we do, Lloyd?” Sora asks, coming to his side in an attempt to help.

Lloyd looks to Sora, then back at the young boy, who is still sobbing, then to his leg, and then back at Sora, “I-I don’t know…” he mutters, “I-I-I don’t wanna hurt him….”

His mumbling seems only to make the little boy cry even more. “Maybe, we can get someone—”

“Move!”

It is a very biting and serious scene. He and Sora are being given an order, and the stern tone makes Lloyd unwilling to see what will happen if he doesn’t comply. Stepping aside for whoever is asking him, as his daughter, not daughter, to step aside, and that acid green color comes back into his vision.

Acid green fabric that clings to a fair-skinned, feminine, individual. Point ears poking out, willow and spring dim, green thick hair as she quickly examines the young boy.

“Hey, Hey Seren,” they say, much softer than the previous move, but with a sense of urgency. The boy tries to stop his crying, looking around at Lloyd, Sora, before attempting to look at his leg, “Don’t look at them, don’t worry about your leg! Look at me! It’s going to okay, I’m gonna fix it!”

Seren nods tears still streaming down his face, the individual points at Sora, “I need you on this side of me,” they instructs pointing at the empty space beside them, Sora nods rushing to the other of the individual, “Seren, we’re going do something that’s going to hurt a lot, but I am going fix it, okay?”

“Corlette, I’m scared,” the little boy whines.

“Do you trust me?”

Seren nods. “Look at her,” Corlette softly instructs, pointing at Sora, before turning to Lloyd. “I’m going to need you to broke his leg.”

“What?!”

“With the way the bone is broken the easiest thing to do is to broke the bone again to realign it!”

“You don’t have anything like a splint or—”

“I have a way to fix it, please just do want I say!” They huff.

Lloyd shuts his mouth as Corlette instructs him to realign Seren’s leg. The young child keeps his eyes on Sora, attempting to be a pleasant distraction as his leg is once again broken and realigned. Once his leg is aligned correctly, Corlette places her hand on Seren’s legs and waits a few very long seconds. A very light yellowish green color comes out of their hands, like an elemental power. Lloyd and Sora watch as Seren’s cries subside and his leg becomes healed.

“Holy shit!” Sora mutters.

Seren smiles once everything is said and done, “How are you feeling, Seren?”

“Better!” he responds with a large smile.

“H..How?” Lloyd questions.

Corlette ignores Lloyd in favor of giving her attention to Seren, “Any other problems?”

“No, ma’am.”

Corlette smiles, “Let’s get you back to your momma, bud!” They comment, helping him off the shipping cart and taking his hand to lead him back home.

“That was the green ninja,” Seren comments as he and Corlette walk away from Lloyd and Sora.

“Oh yeah?” they ask, looking over their shoulder back at Lloyd.

“Yeah! Momma tells me stories about him, he’s really cool!”

Lloyd watches Corlette enter a small house within this fairly average-sized village, not noticing Arin and Riyu being let in behind the large protected gate. “That was a bit crazy,” Arin mutters.

“Lloyd, they healed that kids broken leg!” Sora exclaimed.

“Huh?” Arin gasps.

“Their was this… person that had Lloyd broke that boy’s leg and they healed that boy’s leg,” Sora explains, before beginning to shake Arin by the shoulders, “THEY HEALED HIS LEG! IT WAS SO FREAKING COOL!”

“Lloyd have you see a power like that before?” Arin asks as Sora stops shaking him.

He shakes his head, taking a moment to stop staring into space, turning to his students and their dragon companion, “Never!”

“Wonder why they weren’t at the Tournament of Sources?” Arin wonders out loud.

Lloyd, Sora, and Arin begin to talk among themselves as Riyu entertains a group of children that have taken an interest in him.

“GREEN NINJA!” Corlette calls, her voice amiable, then, when she first spoke to him, jogging up to him, Arin and Sora, “I would like to apologize for the way I acted. You all were helping, and I very much appreciate the assistance.”

Lloyd waves it off, “There was no need to be sorry,” he notes with a smile, “Things ever chaotic, you are clearly the professional here!”

“Professional in the loosest of terms,” Corlette snickers, “I’m no ninja!”

“Lloyd’s the best around,” Arin declares.

“But you’ll never hear it from his own mouth though,” Sora mumbles under her breath with a laugh.

Corlette lets out a little laugh as Lloyd rubs the back of his neck, “I’ve heard the stories,” she acknowledges, “I’m Corlette, I work at the clinic.”

“So that explains why you knew what to do was that kid’s leg…” Sora comments. Corlette nods, “I’m Sora by the way.”

“Arin,” the self-taught Spinjitzu master comments.

“And, I’m Lloyd… Like… Arin… said,” The green ninja adds he’s cheeks becoming a little red as Corlette giggles at his awkwardness, “Anyway… what exactly did you do to Seren’s leg?”

“I believe it is elemental power… I’ve been calling it Mending.”

BACK IN TIME: LADY GAGA DOES RADIO INTERVIEWS IN VIKTOR & ROLF, CAVIAR, CORLETTE & CHANEL

July 18, 2011 was one of Lady Gaga’s busiest promo days. The singer has been spotted running from radio station to radio station in New York City. Check out what she wore during her visits at Z100, KTU and 93.3 Now!

The dress, Gaga wore for the occasion, belongs to the Viktor & Rolf Pre-Fall 2011 collection (you might remember her wearing the above pictured top in white from the same collection as well). 

It features a black ostrich feather-embellished sleeveless top and silky quilted skirt with pocket detail.

Let’s start from top to bottom with the accessories. Gaga has an impressive collection of vintage eyewear and she definitly keeps upping the ante with every pair. 

These are the Caviar by Ultra Palm Optical mod. 8230 frames, pictured in brown above. Unfortunately, these rare stunners are sold out everywhere.

Next, vintage 1980s Versace Medusa medallion earrings with red resin and embedded rhinestones.  

Around her belt she fastened a Chanel mini quilted caviar leather flap bag with chain strap and gold hardware.

Her accessory game also included these sick lace-up leather gloves by Corlette. Gaga decided to wear them in a slouchy style.

Pleaser’s Adore-1020 black patent lace-up front platform ankle boots completed the look ($81.95).

Later that day she decided to wear her mom’s vintage JCPenney leopard print robe. She kept all of her accessories the same, instead of her boots.
