The Food
Cornbread and cornmeal muffins are basically the same thing. At least here in the south they are. Up north, however, folks tend to add sugar to thier cornbreads making them into like cornbread pound-cakes. So in order to differentiate from the last recipe, here is a sweet cornbread cake from New England from 1931.
Ingredients
2 cups cornmeal
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon of baking soda
4 tablespoons butter, melted
Cookware
Greased 8x8 pan
Mixing bowl
Measure cup
Large spoon or spatula
Directions
Combine milk and baking soda and set aside
Mix corn meal, flour, and salt in a bowl
Add the egg, milk mixture, and the melted butter
Mix all together till batter is formed
Pour batter into greased baking pan
Bake for 20 minutes at 450 degrees
And there is your dessert for the corn feast.
