I want to live in corn island

So I watched Corn Island with my mother last weekend. I was struck how the grandfather's existence has no trace. People used to live within nature without corrupting it. The wood he uses to build the little shack is probably the same wood he's been using for years if not decades. He uses whatever nature has to offer around, and the utilities he and his granddaughter bring with them are practical, minimal and often made with natural products as well. If it weren't for the soldiers, the film could have been reasonably set 20, 100, 300 years ago. Of course, the film depicts how man has no trace ultimately, the transciensy of human exitence, and it is further emphasized in the end of the film; but more specifically it is true to man's old way of life, the existence of almost any human alive has been wiped out. But modern, western people have much more impact on nature than ever before. We no longer consider ourslelves within nature and destroy it. We will live traces on this earth, but nothing good; perhaps there will be no one to witness them.
