When I was a child, my Grandmother would tell me about the great Kraken, a great spirit of the water. She told me different stories of it’s incarnations such as the Hafgufa and the Leviathan. She explained to me the difference between the stories of the Elder gods and the stories that have been entangled in them by new waves of pop culture movies. This confusion is purposeful and most people may not believe but do refer to Hollywood movies when they hear the word; Kraken or think about mythology in general. Such a pity. She told me about how some sea monsters look like land or rocks and will keep this pose even after stepping on them. Some wait until you go too far from real land to feel your terror as they sink you down into the depths. Reminds me of some humans we may know. Ah, as above so below my friends. The Kraken is more than just a monster in the depths. It is the beginning and the end. This world has ended so many times and we can recall its layers in our Deja vu but when does the fog lift and give us the true vision in which we seek? This world ends every time by the same means; not by fire, nuclear warfare, or even war itself. Each time it ends by water. Only to dry out exposing the pyramids and cave paintings once again. Only to have us walk to the greenery edges and see the mallow leaf; and think it was a dream’s recall. But the chicken and the egg race makes us dismiss such messages. As the water rises to claim us once again I hear my Grandmother tell me about the Kraken melting his icy chambers and calling his watery army to rise.
