Since we're on the topic, smash or pass Lili just for fun ;3
/ @corpsetalker / & smash or pass.
“...I think it would be disrespectful of me to answer this question, Liliana.” This is not the sort of thing he can joke about with her, not when he heard Gideon’s whispers whenever she was around. He had seen her in a vulnerable moment and had given her a warm greeting in the past, even if it was not one she thought she deserved.
It was obvious he couldn’t answer. Not because he was averse to sex or because Lili was less or more attractive, but because of what their relationship was. Because she was a necromancer that was growing to value human life, because she was what should have been an enemy but he still believed in her.
Because in the end, she did what was right. Because her heart shined true, or so he had said.
Because he professed to see the good in her and this felt cheap, it felt like it would make his words cheap. Or perhaps he’s just afraid that his answer will make her feel that his words are cheap. Either way, Lili is someone he exercises a few extra doses of caution, patience, and consideration with. He can count how many such people he gives this courtesy on one hand, he thinks.
But how many people have this courtesy is not relevant to the situation, it isn’t relevant to the look that he’s getting, it isn’t relevant to the way seconds feel like they’ve stretched into minutes. “It takes time for people to grow on me,” he admits eventually. He can guess this ambitious woman does not easily connect with others, much less relent in any way. She is after all, ambitious. Balancing her needs and the empty space...
He sighs. No, no, that wouldn’t do at all.
He shouldn’t presume and he didn’t have the right to. She was just teasing him, but he was taking this too seriously. Garen chews against the inside of his cheek, frowning, and lets out another heavy sigh.
“I can’t answer. You deserve that I not answer.” It’s truthfully a far more positive response than he expected he would give. Her magic was in so many ways vile, but she wasn’t. He doesn’t mean that she’s beneath answering the question.
Rather, he means that she’s above it.
