I was amazed by the animation, rhythm and emotionality of this scene.
Perhaps Ekko deliberately called Jinx not just to fight, but invited her to play the way they did in childhood. In this way, he awakened certain memories in Jinx that made her use the tactics that she used when she was little, and then her actions became predictable for him. Including this helped Ekko, finally, get ahead of her.
But he didn’t realize that if those memories were still alive in the depths of Jinx's heart, then Powder was still alive too. And maybe Ekko was ready to take revenge and finish off Jinx...
...But he couldn't kill Powder
I saw a gifset of AlanJeff playfully negotiating their relationship and Alan mentions making Jeff a punch card and I could swear another BL couple actually made a punch card...OH WAIT I REMEMBER Aiyaret and Chen Nai did it from Ai Long Nhai. All that to say, I'd love more of that. It's so cute.
What would be your ranking of the rebuilds movies?
I'd definitely put it from top to bottom: FINAL, 3.33, 2.22, 1.11. It's not because the first movies were the weakest but that 3.33 and FINAL had overhauls which gave the Rebuilds a more unique reading. Anyone who's been on my tumblr probably remembers my opinion of the Rebuilds being that the characters sort of felt... not as much them as the original. FINAL's lore answered that grievance. The characters did stagnate but we don't see the extensive reflection-- upfront horrors that humanity is often capable of-- that the series gave because the series already covered that. Eva has always been about how an environment is tantamount to one's own growth. The series takes a more personal look, 3.33 and FINAL give the Rebuilds a newer take on Evangelion.
The Curse of Eva is one such cryptic breadcrumb offered to us in the beginning of 3.33. It causes bodies to stop development because of it. While 1.11 and 2.22 subtly allude to compromised seasons (it's always warm....) the damage that Evangelion causes to the environment is expounded on when Kaworu shows Shinji the effects of Third Impact. The landscape is this... toxic, unrecognizable hellscape. All this shown because Shinji realizes the shirt he wears is from one 'Toji Suzuhara' and wonders of his well-being. Shinji and Kaworu attempt to pluck the twin spears from Terminal Dogma later on, another only come to realize they were tricked into fostering more Impacts. We’re greeted to implied megadeath once more and the noxious landscapes at the end. It’s a crushing loss toward hopeful endeavors. The hopeful becomes the hopeless. Shinji not only loses Kaworu, he becomes an unwilling bringer of death. Again.
The beginning of FINAL shows us a world wracked by the Impacts. Despite everything, however, there are smaller glimmers of hope in the form of restored nature, thanks to WILLE’s efforts. We see from those flickers that nature is not just coming back but people too. Babies are born and the water isn’t tinged with an unsettling wine red evident in the earlier Rebuild installments. Even as WILLE attempts to stop SEELE, this only tackles part of the problem in Eva’s universe. Shinji uses his time within the Golgotha Object to remove the Evangelion. This leads to another universe in which the environment isn’t devastated; we see seasons once more.
That was the Curse of Eva.
Evangelion causes people to suffer in multiple ways and can foster environmental compromise through the genesis of Impacts. The Children sought Eva as a means for validation. We see them interact in ways that aren’t based on unhealthy coping. Because all of Evangelion is gone, in a way, all is right with the world.
FINAL's lore brings me to say this: The Rebuilds work when read as environmental fridge horror. The shots of landscapes ravaged by Impacts may seem like less of a terrifying blow because some of the characters through the series making out. But therein lies the problem. Some. Many, millions more didn’t make it out and that’s where that unsettling factor sets in. It’s a self-aware warning that the creation of a bad environment will only cause everyone and everything in it to suffer.
If anything, be kind to each other.
Harry wore the pink beanie from the beginning of holivia or before that? I just want to know if it's a stunt thing or is it something he had used before
Hi dear,
No, he debuted the pink beanie when Holivia dropped and we saw the pics of them walking in Santa Barbara with his team and in that parking lot.
It's a La Ligne beanie, the brand Olivia is friends with, and was/is an ambassador for. There are pics of Olivia wearing a pink beanie (tho idk if it's even the same) on her IG from 2020 and prior (before the stunt), so now Harry wears it and people say it's "their beanie", as if they share it.
