Tailcone number 5 is out of the jig. Currently building a stand for it then I can install the forward bulkhead and it will be ready for pickup.
Started drilling apart the -7 tailcone and found this little doodle under a fairing. All -7s were manufactured in Vought's Dallas (Grand Praire) factory. Top side is finished, ready to start in the bottom and side panels.
Completed lower panels cleco'd together. Except for two small pieces, this completely scratch built. There's a couple of pics with a straight edge trying to show how much shape is in the whole assembly.
Shaping some. 025" T-3 for the bottom access panel on the tailcone. Inner panel is .020" heat treated.
First new set of tail-wheel doors to be installed since about 1943. Completely scratch built! Not gonna lie, these were an absolute nightmare to get just right.
Putting my little Marquette aircraft torch to good use today. 6' of total welding making some new tubes for the lifting/jack point on the tailcone.
