Start Button and Cortana stop working. (FIXED without Command Prompt)
Again, my post is about technology, especially computer error. Sad, but true lol.
I found out that after updating Windows 10, or maybe also viruses, my start button and cortana stopped working. I had tried several ways from restarting my laptop, task manager, using command prompt, powershell, until uninstalling my antivirus. Yet, all do not work.
Desperately, I found another page that talked about cortana. The link is here. In the forum, there are many ways to fix Cortana, but only one that has worked for me. It is reinstalling the Windows 10.
Hold on, it is not as bad as that, since you have the chance to keep all your files and apps (Yes, including all the sticky notes). Literally, nothing will change after you do the installation through Media Creation Tool.
How is it work?
1. Download Media Creation Tool here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
2. Click on Download Tool now, Click Save MediaCreationTool.exe in Desktop to access it easier.
3. There will be a lot on license page, but you can select to Accept.
4. On the What do you want to do? page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
5. If you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 on this PC and you’re reinstalling it, you don’t need to enter a product key. Your copy of Windows 10 will automatically activate later using your digital license. But, of course if you got the error on other version of Windows, you will have to buy the product key first.
6. This is the most important step, select Change what to keep to set and choose “Keep personal files and apps”, so you won’t lose anything. Yes, I have tried and nothing was lost from my computer. I got everything with me now!
7. When you’re ready, select Install.It might take some time to install Windows 10, and your PC will restart a few times. Make sure you don’t turn off your PC.
8. Now, you can enjoy your taskbar/start button/cortana/action center stopped working to something that work at its best stage!
